Description

You asked we listened!

The CRKT Pilar has been a firm favourite ever since it was launched and as soon as we saw it our thoughts immediately turned to how great it would be as a non-locking, UK friendly carry knife with, of course, the Heinnie® red G10 scales.

Fast forward to the present and here it is - the CRKT Pilar Heinnie Haynes® UK Edition! All the same features remain that made it such a popular knife in the first place; thick Wharncliff blade, generous thumb hole for opening, low carry pocket clip, perfect size for everyday use and exceptional Voxnaes design. This version is a non-locking slipjoint knife. It's extremely sharp, out of the box, with the red being a vibrant, bright red, perfectly offset with the shiny satin of the blade and metal hardware.

Good but mine has a flaw :-(

Posted by Ruukuu on 14th Sep 2020

Its a great little knife. Sharp, comfortable, centered well, no play. But one of the scales on mine is damaged. Obviously slipped through inspection. Its as if someone hit it slightly with a hammer. The texture of the G10is all squished. Not sure what to do.

    Awesome little UK Friendly knife

Posted by Spicey Carlos on 13th Sep 2020

I love this little beauty. Nice, solid and UK friendly, came nice and sharp. I've already used to for some day to day tasks and it just works great and feels comfortable and safe in the hand. Highly recommended for a EDC knife.

    Finally a UK Legal Pliar!!

Posted by Twicky on 13th Sep 2020

I have been yearning for a UK Legal version of this knife ever since the original came out. Mine came razor sharp out of the box and works well for my basic EDC purposes, such as opening boxes, cutting string Etc. I would have preferred a more traditional slip-joint mechanism as the one employed isn’t the stiffest and doesn’t require too much effort to disengage. That said, the finger choil reduces the likelihood of the blade closing on your fingers and allows you to put quite a bit of force through the blade. Overall, a wonderful little knife and definitely one to get if you loved the original.

    Amazing little knife

Posted by Joe on 11th Sep 2020

Amazing little knife . Great service by heinnie as usual. First impressions of the knife are good. Great build quality especially at this price and came razor sharp out the box. One handed opening is very easy. And the pocket clip is nice and big. The only draw back for me is the size, the handle is a bit to small to be comfortable for my hand. I have slightly larger than average hands, so if you have massive hands I wouldn't recommend. However it still gets 5 stars from me

    Needs a bit of work

Posted by David on 11th Sep 2020

Knife arrived at lightning speed due to Heinnies' incredible service. The knife itself looks and feels good in the hand but upon using it I feel it could have done with some jimping on the back of the blade for my thumb to gain traction on. My blade was also only reasonably sharp, and only on the front two-thirds. The rest was butter knife blunt. Struggled to cut anything at all. Half an hour on ceramics and stropping later and it's now pretty good, but I didn't expect to need to do that.

    Over chunk

Posted by Anon on 10th Sep 2020

If you want a really chunky one hand opening, non locking knife for some reason, this is a good quality piece for the price. However I would caution that shaving sharp as this blade comes, the very substantial spine width causes this to perform poorly at both cutting food and cutting cardboard (the two tasks I would normally regard as representing either end of the every day task spectrum). The point is good for draw cuts, but I have other knives that perform that function just as well while being better all rounders. Few of the advantages of a chunky blade (eg being able to pry if needs be) can be capitalised on with a lock up this soft. A fun and cost effective addition to a collection, but I don't rate this as a good every day pick. Something like a Spyderco Urban/Squeak is much more useful/practical than this.

    Excellent

Posted by James. on 10th Sep 2020

Received my knife within the usual customary 24 hours after placing order. Knife very sharp out of the box, solid build quality and easy to deploy the super thick blade one handed. Sits in the hand beautifully with the lovely shaped G10 scales. Only very slight disappointment are the red scales are now the only way to show it being a Heinnie Haynes version of a knife as this is another of my purchases that does not have a Heinnie "H" any where on any of the metal work. Shame. You do get a free Heinnie "H" sticker with your knife, and I got one with my last torch, but they are a bit big for sticking on any of your new kit, being about an inch square. My UK legal collection now over 50 and I'm beginning to struggle keeping any organized rotation going. Still, its a nice problem to have. If you can call it a problem !!
