Since its original release in 1997, the Spyderco Native has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line and a flagship of their American-made stable of knives. The design has evolved steadily over the years, reaching its current state of the art in 2012 with the release of the Native 5. Using a range of blade steels and handle materials the current range features G10 and FRN with plain, part-serrated and Spyderedge blade types using Maxamet, Magnacut, S30V and S110V steels. There are also other versions called the Native Chief and the Lil' Native.
