    Top Notch Modern Folder

Posted by Seamus on 8th Sep 2020

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I bought this as a replacement EDC, because my Boker camp knife which has been a faithful companion since the 70's is way past due for retirement! It's hard to fault the Heinnie Penfold. It's built like a tank, aesthetically pleasing, and looks like it will last long enough to see me out. It's one of those rare knives that feels great in the hand, and I'd be happy to carry for any occasion. I like to put my own mark on a knife that will be a constant companion, so I've cut the dark grey stone wash finish back and polished the scales to a high gloss. I then used 24 carat gold leaf to highlight around the heinnie logos, and then added a red & black lanyard, along with a titanium heinnie bead, which has also been highly polished, and the 4 heinnie logos highlighted in 24 carat gold to match the knife. To finish it off I've made an end bead of polished natural red coral. I'm really pleased with the result, but it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea I guess. I'm so impressed with this knife, that I will be buying a second one in the near future. The only (tiny) problem I had was getting the lanyard through the really small space provided. I had to loop microcord through the lanyard and use it as a pull through to fit the lanyard. Don't hesitate for a second to buy one of these fantastic knives, they're worth every penny. TIP: If you want a slip case to protect your investment, buy a fallkniven soft pouch, available for a fiver from HH. It fits so well that it could have been custom made for the Penfold, and the soft suede feels lovely in the hand. Top marks for this one HH!

    Lovely

Great little pocket knife. Can't find any fault really. Great "walk and talk". Very nice in the hand. A perfect blend of old meets new

    Blown away by the quality

Posted by Ekim on 6th Jul 2020

What can I say, that hasn't been said already in the other reviews. For the money you pay, it's well worth it for the materials used. This has quickly become my favourite pocket companion. As mentioned in a previous review I would love to see a blue titanium handle version.
Top class service from HH as we've all become accustomed. Why shop anywhere else!

    Another top quality Heinnie product

    Posted by @niceslicers on 18th Jun 2020

Got this delivered the day after ordering it and I must say I'm very impressed. The titanium scales have some nice milling work on them and are a pleasure in the hand. The blade opens with ease, without having to use the nail nick which is good for me as I'm aa nail biter. Both grinds are even and the blade has come very sharp as standard. In the closed position the blade is perfectly centered and there are no gaps along the back spring.
All in all I would definately recommend this knife as a good daily user

    What they said

Posted by Tomrs on 18th Jun 2020

I think all of my sentiments have been summed up by the previous reviewers. This is a sturdy little beast. When you think about it, s35vn steel blade, titanium handle and engraved To boot, you can’t get much better.

My recommendation for the next Heinne branded blade would bethis one but with the titanium handle anodised differ

    Excellent Design and Build.

Posted by The man on the Clapham omnibus. on 17th Jun 2020

Very pleased with this as a prospective EDC.

It is slim and light enough to disappear into the bottom of a jeans pocket - and yet sturdy and secure feeling in use. It's not easy to explain the build - from within my own collection, it has the hand feel and blade shape of a Shing Puffin, with the quality fit and smoother and lighter action of an Enzo PK70. If that makes sense ?

The blade opens without a struggle, passes through a slightly vague half(ish)stop and propels itself confidently into a secure full-open position. It takes a medium force to overcome the spring detent on the way back, passing through the loose zone midway home, and then on to another nicely sprung and positive closure.

The blade is sufficiently proud of the scale to be easily gripped without resorting to the finger nail nick . The blade tip is comfortably inside the scale at both side and end - with no chance of catching it on finger or trouser.

I have bigger and heavier UK legal knives - which I tend to leave at home due to their bulk. I have smaller and lighter UK legal knives - which I tend to leave at home due to their limited real-world utility.

For the person who carries a knife out of habit, rather than for a specific hard-core activity - then this might very well emerge as the Goldilocks of UK pocket knives !

There is a feeling of quality and luxury about the knife - think 1970s Mercedes - without anything particularly attention grabbing - it's subtle and (I hope) functional rather than flashy - and only you know about the S35VN : )

    Recommended without reservation.

And congratulations to the team at HH !

    Near perfect EDC

Posted by Ian on 17th Jun 2020

Mine aRrived today and it is brilliant!

Good solid highest quality build without being too heavy. It punches way above its weight.

If it had a pocket clip it would be perfect!!!

    I've been waiting for this....

Posted by Micky on 15th Jun 2020

I was lucky enough to see the prototype a few weeks ago. I told Richy I definitely wanted one. I have now picked mine up and had it in my hand. This really is about the best EDC knife I own. It feels like an SAK on steroids. Titanium and S35VN make this a very high spec little folder. It's very smooth to open. Not too tight, not too loose. Traditional and modern all rolled into one.

Thanks for the early look see guys. Well done.
