Description

It's back! The return of a legend.

For years, Heinnie fans have asked, hoped, and waited for the return of this true classic. The Spyderco UK Penknife G10 wasn’t just one of our exclusives — it became a legend, our best-ever seller, and a firm favourite among collectors and everyday users alike. Now, after far too long, it’s back.

An exclusive is a special configuration of an established Spyderco model. Although multiple runs may be made, as its name implies, this, the Spyderco C94GRD UK Penknife Red G10 CPM S30V Exclusive is unique to Heinnie Haynes and only available through us.

Spyderco developed the UK Penknife after the United Kingdom prohibited the carry of folding knives with locking blades. Its refined design combines the defining features of Spyderco’s revolutionary CLIPIT knives with an improved, non-locking, notch joint mechanism. The resulting hybrid, known as a SLIPIT, elevates the functionality of trhe traditional non-locking pocket knife while remaining socially and legally friendly.

Made in the USA at Spyderco’s factory in Golden, Colorado, this exclusive expression of the UKPK showcases a leaf shaped blade crafted from premium CPM S30V particle metallurgy stainless steel. The plain edge blade is full-flat ground for exceptional edge geometry and is proudly laser engraved with the Heinnie ‘H’.

Not to be outdone, the handle of this knife features distinctive red G10 scales with a non slip peel ply texture. They complement the jimping (textured grooves) on the blade's thumb ramp and index finger choil to ensure a positive grip and outstanding control during use.

A truly unique expression of an iconic Spyderco design, this exclusive UK Penknife is sure to appeal to both end users and discriminating collectors alike.

Spyderco UKPK Heinnie Haynes special edition

Posted by Tim Bird on 24th Aug 2021

Having owned the FRN drop point UKPK for couple of years, which is still a very good everyday pocket knife, I can safely say that this is a different (and better) beast in a number of ways, now that I have finally got my hands on it. Firstly, the G10; it has a lovely grip to it and is fitted exactly flush to the full-length metal spine, making the knife feel ergonomically perfect and reassuringly weighted, whilst still being very light to hold in the hand and carry in the pocket. It’s more comfortable to my hand than even my Para 3 lightweight and Delica 4 FRN FFG, due to the handle material. Secondly, the steel used (S30V) is rated highly and I have no doubt it will perform well. Thirdly, the action of the knife is noticeably smoother than the FRN UKPK models, thanks to the phosphor bronze washers that sit on either side of the blade pivot. Of course, the deep carry clip tops the package off, meaning the knife sits unobtrusively low and snug in the corner of the pocket until you need it. Some reviewers have bemoaned the lack of an etched Spyderco logo to ride under the clip contact points providing a flat spot to prevent rubbing against pocket material. I have to say, I disagree that this is a weakness and in fact, I think the opposite. I have often found my FRN model UKPK to be lifted out of my pocket by overcoats and jackets, especially those with drawstring waists; sometimes when I’m out in the countryside this has nearly seen me lose the knife, with only good fortune meaning that the knife was caught in the folds of my jacket or waistband. I’d happily take a little rubbing on a pair of trousers any day, rather than risk losing my knife. I get the feeling that the friction between the pocket material and the deep carry clip on this knife with G10 handles will see this become much less of a worry for me. To sum up, this knife is a refinement on some of the best pocket knives you could already buy and if you see this available ahead of them, I would seriously advise you to consider purchasing this, unless you really are constrained with your budget.

I've carried the very first edition of the UKPK as my EDC since they launched. Now, this fabulous version will become my goto blade for outside. A fantastic revision of the best EDC knife ever invented.

    UKPK

Posted by Pony on 27th Jul 2021

I had a lot of UKPKs from the first G10 and Carbon Fiber ones to the latest steel varations. This UKPK from Heinnie is the best ever made. Solid liner, one more screw/pin than the others, proven steel, cool color. Get one (or two) if you can...

    Amazing...until it broke :(

Posted by Damian B on 20th Oct 2020

I loved this knife. Alas, past tense. We'll get to that, but first there's a lot to love here. This was pretty much, to my mind, a perfect UK EDC knife ... though actually it feels like a much bigger knife than it is, and feels like it's pushing towards the limits of what's UK legal carry. It's very, very comfortable in the hand, affords excellent control, from stronger push cuts to very fine work with the tip. The blade shape seems to be good for pretty much everything. Everything - aesthetics, ergonomics, materials, fit & finish, utility - were amazing. But after about a year of light to moderate use, the backspring just snapped, one day. I was actually a little heartbroken. Taking it apart, the spring is a quite delicate-looking tuning fork-type affair - I don't know if that's the same for all UKPKs. I've tinkered with it, and it's now a serviceable friction folder. And I still really, really like it, and it still gets 4 stars. ... and I still might buy a replacement, it Heinnie ever gets new stock.

    Best version of ukpk

Posted by Half baked on 12th Feb 2020

Have the s110v, original s30 v and all the standard models and this is best by far, bets price for materials compared to s110v model, tougher back spring then all of them gives you confidence in hand and a nice sexy red g10 instead of plastic to boot, just get it best UK legal knife hands down gets more pocket time then my lionsteels

    Just get one...

Posted by Mattster on 5th Feb 2020

Had one of these for a while now. Got it shortly after it was released. Great bit of kit, v sharp OTB and with G10 handles, feels more sturdy than a "normal" UKPK. Stronger spring for more confidence and a fantastic steel that holds a good edge for a long time. If you want a UKPK, this is the one to go for..!

Don't get the CTS BD1 UKPK lightweight, get this instead

I bought three of these, as I have an Orange version of the original s30v UKPK that I love, but am scared to use too often in case I lose it. This is almost identical to the old orange model. the blade is slightly thinner on the new one, but the handle ergonomics and materials feel identical. There is an extra screw in the handle of the new one, so if anything it is more sturdy. The one of these I have opened (I also gave one away as a gift) is my most carried tool. I have a large collection of UKL EDC knives, and this is the best combination of performance, materials and price of any of them. The next best in my collection is the HH Slipstream for those metrics, though the lack of a pocket clip means I rarely carry it. The Bestech Junzi and the TRM Viator are also excellent, though you could buy two UKPKs for the price of either of those.
