You wouldn't believe it was possible to improve on Rough Rider quality but with their High Carbon line thats exactly what they have done! And the price stays the same!

The Rough Rider Canoe High Carbon features two blades; one pen and one larger spear point blade both made from carbon steel with a Titanium finish to resist rust. The handle is a lovely feature using black G10 with red liners and nickel silver bolsters.

    Rough Ryder canoe carbon

I could not make up my mind between this one and the Buck Canoe so I bought both and don't regret it, fit and finish is far better than the price would suggest.

    Rough rider Canoe High Carbon.

Disappointed in this as the G10 does not sit flush with the bolsters at all,A huge gap running down the back too,Blades are sharp and stiff enough but i expected better,Nowhere near the build quality of my Cotton Sampler or Buckshot bone knives hence the Three out of Five rating,Shame really.

    High Carbon Canoe

Great service as always from HH. I love this knife, it looks amazing, it’s very sharp and feels great in the hand. A brilliant knife for EDC in the UK.

Rough Rider canoe folding knife, carbon

Posted by Matt on 8th Dec 2021

Great Knife. I have bought several Rough Rider canoe folding knives, stainless steel and carbon steel. They are solid/ robust , well made and very good value for money. They take a sharp edge as well. The carbon blade despite the surface treatment, can corrode a little at the cutting edge, due to sweat and moisture from being in a pocket, but that is inevitable with carbon steel, it takes a long time to occur and the treatment on the rest of the blade does a good job preventing further oxidation.

    Build quality and QC lacking

Posted by Ryan Curtis on 13th Apr 2021

Firstly, I love this knife, it's razor sharp, looks lovely, nicely balanced. One of my favourites to use. That said, the build quality is not good. The first one I had didn't close properly, and the blades were smashed up against the side of the liners. Second one is only marginally better but does close at least, haha. Still, decent enough for £18.

    Nearly

It's a shame there are large gaps between the scales and the liner, as otherwise this thing is built like a tank. However, the fit and finish are significantly worse than that of a sub-ten pound Imperial Sodbuster. Possibly one to leave in the toolbox for dirty jobs.

    ROUGH RIDER CANOE HIGH CARBON

Posted by Philip Greenhill on 30th Nov 2020

An attractive knife with grey blades. There is no half stops on mine as well as the small blade being very stiff, neither of these points detract from it in my view. Shaving sharp out of the box which I've come to expect from RR, this is excellent considering the price range.
