You wouldn't believe it was possible to improve on Rough Rider quality but with their High Carbon line thats exactly what they have done! And the price stays the same!

The Rough Rider Trapper High Carbon features two blades; one spey and one clip point both made from carbon steel with a Titanium finish to resist rust. The handle is a lovely feature using black G10 with red liners and nickel silver bolsters.

Please be aware that the blade may incorrectly be stamped as 440 stainless steel. This was a factory error that took place at the point of manufacture and the blades are in fact carbon steel.

    Rough Rider Trapper High Carbon

Posted by Philip Greenhill on 6th Jan 2021

Attractive knife with a well constructed body. The blades are dead on 3" but the knife gives the impression of being larger, both blades have a a solid action and were shaving sharp out of the box, recommended for a UK EDC where a bit more size is useful.

Great little knife and great customer service from Heinnie.

Nicely weighted, well balanced and pleasant to use. I've read that RR knives are a bit hit and miss in terms of quality control, but the two I bought are very well put together, with a decent level of overall finish and no side-by-side play in the the blade pivots. There was a little bit of discolouration on the blade of one and on the nickel of the other, but nothing a good polish won't fix. I'm not going to polish it out, though; I personally think it adds to the antique look if the knife. Always wanted a trapper-style friction folder, but have always been put off by 440a stainless blades, which is why I've generally stuck with my Opinels. The blades came pretty sharp, and some light work on a Lansky Turn Box brought them up to a razor sharp edge which it seems to retain very well, too. Additional note: The description says that the blade is incorrectly stamped "440". I ordered two, but only one was in stock. The first knife did arrive with "440 razor sharp steel" printed on it. However, when Heinnie ordered more stock and I received the second one, it *doesn't* have this stamp, so it looks like that is no longer an issue. I gave one of thse away as a Christmas present for a friend. I think I'll be buying more :)
