The CRKT Pilar has been a firm favourite ever since it was launched and as soon as we saw it our thoughts immediately turned to how great it would be as a non-locking, UK friendly carry knife with, of course, the Heinnie® red G10 scales.
Fast forward to the present and here it is - the CRKT Pilar Heinnie Haynes® UK Edition! All the same features remain that made it such a popular knife in the first place; thick Wharncliff blade, generous thumb hole for opening, low carry pocket clip, perfect size for everyday use and exceptional Voxnaes design. This version is a non-locking slipjoint knife. It's extremely sharp, out of the box, with the red being a vibrant, bright red, perfectly offset with the shiny satin of the blade and metal hardware.

lovely bright red g10 scales and an awesome blade ,must be held to appreciate the real quality of this knife
I own lots of UKF knives but I have to say for the money this is the best. The red just pops nicely. With left hand carry it's sits perfectly in hand with a non intrusive clip. I will be buying another. Absolute run from HH. 10/ 10 as usual.
I should start by saying I bought this purely for the unusual looks, combined with the low price, good rep, bright red Heinnie Haynes design and the UK Friendly tag - It just looked like a fun thing to have... As it turns out, this really is a great little knife. Straight out of the box, the blade is very sharp, very well centred and with no wobble. The steel is fairly mild and dulls quicker than some, but also sharpens up a bit easier too. The Sheepsfoot blade shape (it's not really a Wharncliffe) makes detailed point work so easy compared to the spearpoints and drop-points most of us use. To the casual observer (or Police officer) the blade shape and red colour makes it look more like the friendly utilitarian tool it is than a dangerous weapon, which is especially helpful if you're worried about being stopped with this in your pocket. The finger choil is a bit weird if you've never used one before, but makes a lot of sense in the hand, as does the very thick blade. The slip joint can seem a bit stiff on some examples and a bit too gentle on others, but this can be altered if you're happy stripping the knife down. The plastic washers perhaps aren't the best, but they seem adequate and can be replaced if you really want. Similarly, the removable pocket clip works well for a fairly deep carry. Obviously it's one-sided and there will be lefties and tip-up fans who don't like it, but I find it easier to position my large hands for one-handed opening from a tip-down carry. Speaking of size - It's quite a big knife compared to the usual Swiss Army types, but at the same time surprisingly small when actually in use. For something bought purely for aesthetic reasons, this has turned out to be a real delight and I'd recommend it for just about anyone!
What a great little EDC this is. Wasn’t 100% convinced it was what I was after at first, but HH’s product of the year 2020 is a recommendation it would be a mistake to ignore. Signature red G10 scales and slip joint conversion make sense for the UK. Decent sharpness straight out of the box and it has been my go to since it arrived. As the HH version is less than the standard Pilar it’s also great value. So happy with it I came back and bought the copper liner lock version too.
Fantastic little pocket knife for the farm, cuts through silage bale wrap with ease, with the blade being a decent thickness you dont have to worry about bending the blade so perfect for the job. Most importantly its UK legal, so if you fancy a quick beer in the village boozer and forget it's in your pocket you need not worry. The perfect pocket knife for farmers
This is one well made little folder. IMO ideal for everyday carry in the UK. Well made and solid. I was a little apprehensive about the detent retention as I’ve had a knife employing this system before (costing over 8 times as much) and it was too weak. This however is perfect and when you use it in conjunction with the finger choil there’s little to no chance of injury. Blade is sharp OTB and the perfect size for opening boxes, trimming off sticks, sharpening pencils to slicing cord. It’s not a super steel but it does the job and easily stropped back to sharp. Great pocket knife that meets current UK restrictions. Holds an edge well and feels quality in the hand, just the right amount of spring tension too.
Brilliant
