Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener

This arrived Today. I have put a decent edge on a 25yr old Victorinox chefs knife, two Vnox paring knives, a Global santoku and paring knife, (i know they are factory honed to a finer angle than 20°, still got them sharp,) a budget brand santoku and honed a very sharp edge on an Opinel folding knife. This probably isn't the best thing for kitchen knives, but it did a really good job and was easy to use. I've never been great at sharpening but this made it easier and a little therapeutic. The bigger knives were a little tricky but slow and steady got it done. Glad i got this. Bargain for what it does.

I think anyone could get a decent edge using this sharpener. It’s so easy and only takes a couple of minutes. I keep this in my work bag and it’s great for putting an edge back in my knives. Well worth the money. As per usual Heinnies delivery was faultless and super fast.

Great Great Great sharpener. The diamond stones are at 20 degrees and then the ceramic shifts to 25 degrees to produce a micro bevel with the final strop also at 25 degrees for finishing. Here is my formula: Work the knife on the 220 roughest stone until you get a burr on the opposite, each side of knife. Then @ 10 runs each side of the knife on the 600 smoother side of stone. Now 5 runs each side on the ceramic smooth side. 5 runs are plenty for the round ceramic smooth side. As many runs as you like on the strop bringing the knife backwards. Just the weight of the blade. Lightly, very lightly or the strop will roll the edge you have already achieved. I have worked with knives all my working life and find this the most consistant for paper shredding sharpness.

This is quite a small sharpener but it's a very capable bit of kit. Ive just took one of my own homemade blades from blunt to razor sharp in literally 5 minutes. Extremely happy and impressed. If you can't decide which sharpener to get, give this a go. It's a reasonable price, great quality, gives great results and HH delivery service is top notch . You will not be disappointed
