Samura Damascus 67 Utility

I’m a big fan of these knives. Bought the paring knife and now the utility. Nice steel, great handle material, well made. Silly sharp and great price too. It’s my go to knife in the kitchen now.

The knife seems good to me, but you should not say it is Japanese when it is made in China.

Bought this knife as I had previously bought the paring one and loved it. The build and quality of materials is superb, razor sharp out the box, loved the Samura branded bandaid they put in there too. Only problem I have with these knives is they are so beautiful I am scared to use and damage them sometimes.

It is a Japanese manufactured in China. Despite this the knife looks well made, the Damascus look nice, however it is difficult to know if it is really Damascus or etched. The knife is sharp from the box and I do not know if it was mine or not but the tip has a wider cutting area, I am sure it is not design but maybe a construction flaw. Again, it is very small and for the price if it is Damascus it is a good knife.

What a great value piece. It's basically become the only knife I use in the kitchen because it's at that perfect size where it really can do pretty much all you could ask of it, and do it well. I really can't fault it - it came hair shaving sharp out of the box and stayed that way for ages. It takes and holds a fantastic edge, and is really durable with no chips or rolls at all. I strop it weekly and give it 10 passes on a fine stone once a month and that's all it needs. Rust resistance is superb - you can just wash it the same as anything else and leave it to air dry without worrying, and acidic foods don't touch it Handle looks great, feels great and has superb fit and finish with it being flush to the tang all the way around. Flush fit pins on a very attractive layered micarta. I do wish there was less of a step between the handle and the blade as that would make it more comfortable for a pinch grip, but that doesn't really bother me. It's a fantastic looker and performer, and for ~£30 I really think you'll struggle to do better.

I have knives that I pride myself on being able to keep them sharp with a strop but this Samura 67 layer Damascus blade is scary sharp, I definitely can’t let the wife use this knife. It is a handsome blade with a good handle, it feels solid and capable in the hand but make sure you keep your fingers out of the way.

I received the 3 pin full tang version and it super sharp out of the box and it feels good in the hand, I think this is the older (better) version i could not find the sharpening paper that is supposed to be on the bottom of the box, Must be the newer version.
