Samura Combination Whetstone

Although I haven't used them yet I'm reviewing the product quality. I bought the 240/800 & the 1000/3000. They are clearly coded & numbered so no mix up. They come with a none slip rubber type base to stop sliding I suppose. The quality in my opinion is excellent, I mean perfect. They are very clean with exceptional sharp edges & can't wait to use them.great value so far.

I use this for my leather work knives and it works perfcetly, two for the price of one. Slight problem with delivery but one phone call later it was all sorted, the girl on phone was super friendly and called me back to explain what happened and what was happening.

Ok, so I had misgivings and tried to cancel this. Half an hour after I asked to cancel, it was shipped. I guess I cut it too fine. Anyway, my gut instinct was right, this is not a good stone, but for some reason rather than returning it I let curiosity get the better of me. First of all, it arrived with the corners chipped off, clearly not well packed. It's also very soft and wears incredibly fast, while cutting like mild cheddar, but mild cheddar with little crunchy bits. Results are not good- and it's nowhere near as high a grit on either side as claimed. The price being roughly halved after I bought it is just the final kicker. This one was a very poor decision on my part- this product is not fit for purpose. But cheap, buy twice- stick to Shapton or Naniwa!

I bought the stone to sharpen my kitchen and pocket knives, and it did exactly what is said on the tin. the 2000 grit side helped remove the right amount of material whilst still being forgiving. The 5000 grit side put a nice finish on the blade, more than suitable for my cutting needs. The limiting factor to these stones was definitely my own skills, yet I'm more than satisfied with the edges I got. I would definitely recommend and will be looking to buy from Samura once I have fine-tuned my technique.
