This Rough Rider is a great every day carry knife. Not only is it superb quality for the price but it qualifies as a UK legal carry due to its sub three inch non-locking blade.
With Rams horn bone handle and 440A stainless steel, plain edge blade, it is certainly one to add to the collection or pop it in you EDC pocket organiser. Whatever you decide you will be surprised and pleased by its quality and usability.

I got this to try out the toothpick format before spending a lot more on the Case Small Texas Toothpick and I’m really impressed with it. The bone/horn scales are well made and the general fit around the backspring, liners and bolsters is very good for the price you pay. I have two of the Chinese-made Buck knives (Deuce and Solo) and it knocks both of them into a cocked hat in terms of quality and standard of finish. The brass pins holding the scales protrude a little inside the knife body, and are within a hair’s width of touching the non-cutting part of the blade (ie where it hinges). That’s the only minor gripe, though means nothing in practical, real-world terms. The knife arrived sharp enough and has since taken a razor edge on ceramic sharpening rods. Can’t ask for better value for money at this price.
Bought this knife as I wanted the Case Small Texas Toothpick but wanted to see how I felt about the toothpick format first before paying the extra for Case quality. I’m really happy with the level of quality: the bone/horn scales are really good quality and nice to look at. Liners, bolsters etc are well polished and put together. There are some minor imperfections to the overall finish - the backspring sits a little high in the closed position (I’m talking less than 1/2mm, so barely visible) but is perfectly flush when open. In fairness you’d get this on any knife, even on those costing 3-4 times the money. There’s really nothing to complain about at £12. I have two Chinese-made Buck knives (£20-25) and the quality of this is far better than those. I’d happily buy more from Rough Rider, as they seem to be a great balance between aesthetics and usable, daily knives. I’m very happy with it.
Bought this little beauty as an EDC to replace my beloved Case Old Red Peanut, which I lost. It’s well made, razor sharp and has a good heft to it despite its size. Purists will grumble about the blade not being centred, but it feels solid in the hand and there’s no blade play when it’s open. Hopefully I’ll manage to hang on to this one! By the way, I couldn’t leave a review here without mentioning the fantastic service provided by the guys at HH. Absolutely first-class.
