We're happy to present something everyone has been waiting for - a combination ceramic/ceramic whetstone that will handle your finest sharpening needs. The newly-developed CC4 whetstone consists of a super fine ceramic stone (white side) (9 micron) and a ceramic stone, made of synthetic sapphires (dark gray) (15 micron). You don't need any lubrication for these stones but now and then you should consider cleaning them with water and liquid soap. A leather pouch is included.

How to use your DC whetstone:

If your knife is dull, we advise you to start with a diamond stone. After restoring the edge to original shape, de-burr the edge lightly with the ceramic stone in order to get a razor-sharp edge. Use no oil or water. Start by laying the blade flat on the stone, raise the blade spine approx. the thickness of the blade, and start moving the knife in circular motions.

The ink trick:
Colour the edge with a felt-tip pen. You can check your progress in sharpening the knife by observing where the colour is removed.

How to check the sharpness:
To check the sharpness of your knife, pull the edge very lightly on your finger nail. If it cuts, the knife is certainly sharp enough for most tasks.

    Fallkniven CC4 Ceramic Whetstone

Posted by Happy Camper on 22nd May 2023

The synthetic sapphire side (grey) feels rather coarse at first but mellows to a usefully aggressive scratch pattern after some use. The sapphire side works very well with my VG10 Fallkniven F2 (which I think of as a 'bird and trout' type knife - it works very well as a boning and filleting knife). The ceramic side (white) works well to refine the scratch pattern, if needed. The ceramic side puts a very keen burr edge on VG10 and cobalt steel. As with all pocket stones it is more suited to sharpening knives intended for everyday general use or for the field preparation of game rather than knives used for wood carving. The ceramic side also works very well to put a keen edge on Hitachi's White Paper steel #1, so is most likely to work well with hard steels in the Fallkniven inventory. The sheath on the latest production has one side reversed (the rear side), so that the rough side of the leather can be used as a strop.

    Fallkniven CC$ Ceramic Sharpening Stone

Posted by Nigel Whitaker on 12th Nov 2022

Interestingly, this stone arrived in the same HH delivery as a pocket knife that really needed sharpening out of the box, so I tested it within the hour... Interestingly the instructions state to use it dry..... And yes, this works, and you would clean it occasionally. The pouch, which is suggested to use as a strop seems to be made with the finished leather side inside the pouch... the outside being a little softer in touch. I personally wouldn't use the outside to strop, as it would become filthy with stropping compound, and I'd be worried about forgetting my direction, and cutting the pouch in half !! Verdict - Yes, very good used dry on a factory 'blunt' edge..

Fantastic compact whetstone that comes with a leather pouch for storage and protection. Leather pouch can also be used to strop. Have used the CC4 to sharpen my Swiss army knife and some pen knifes that have came up razor sharp with very little effort, well chuffed. Would highly recommend this product to anyone thinking of investing in a compact whetstone. Special shout out to Hennie Haynes your service is second to none.Top notch company, thanks.

    Great product

Lovely little piece of kit. Small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket and the double ceramic means it’ll last a lot longer than the diamond/ceramic version. One side of the pouch is even set up for you to use as a leather strip. Clever bit of kit.

    Excellent!

This fallkniven ceramic sharpening stone is excellent for sharpening my Fallkniven Knives, just with a few passes on the fine ceramic side is all that is needed before stropping! I highly recommend purchasing only if you know how to sharpen with stones!

Takes the edge to a better level, final piece of the puzzle.

Have several DC4's but they only take the blade edge to a basic sharpness. This finishes off the job as it should do. I carry this CC4 now as I find its enough and I find I don't let my blade edges get so bad as to need a DC4 now. My 154cm fine edge blades come up like a razor with this ! Wasn't sure if one of these was worth the money, as had DC4's but it so was.

Bought this cc4 especially for my Origin brand knives which have a Convex edge. Great size and quality and top service from HH as per usual.

    my bad

Posted by garbo on 3rd Jul 2018

its nice , well made etc. my sharpening lies probably between novice and expert. ive done taxing jobs like putting an edge on an unfinished kukri, both curves, convexed. using the cc4 i always end up with a messed up edge. it takes a lot of stropping after to get that continuous mirror finish on the cutting edge. i've been using it a number of months. ive established, i find the cc4 tricky. the dmt 'butterflies' results are easier to control in field conditions....for me. it's maybe a bit easier on larger blades. my appeciation of heinnie and fallkniven remains undiminished

    Great Service great tool

Posted by Eddie on 4th Jul 2017

First things first, I placed an order at 2.40 on Wednesday got an email at 3.15 to say that order had been dispatched. Order received the next day in Northern Ireland, I have seen sorcery and witchcraft mentioned in other reviews and had a giggle. Now I am convinced and also a bit afraid to give a bad review. I ordered another few bits as well so postage was free to boot. So now about the product, I have an old pocket knife that was given to me a present over 20 years ago when I started working for the Scouts. My daughter has now joined the scouts so I thought it was time to pass it on. I gave the knife a good clean and tried a few strokes on each side and was surprised to find the knife cut paper cleanly. I also bought a set of the rough rider stones and a bottle of Dan's honing oil. I had a few knives in my fishing bag which I am just beginning to dust off and get ready for the summer. I used the Rough Rider Stones with the honing oil first and then finished with the Falkniven stone super sharp. This is a great little field kit and for pocket knives. I have more expensive bench stones for kitchen knives and would say that I couldn't get the knives much sharper. Great products better service.
