Description

We're happy to present something everyone has been waiting for - a combination ceramic/ceramic whetstone that will handle your finest sharpening needs. The newly-developed CC4 whetstone consists of a super fine ceramic stone (white side) (9 micron) and a ceramic stone, made of synthetic sapphires (dark gray) (15 micron). You don't need any lubrication for these stones but now and then you should consider cleaning them with water and liquid soap. A leather pouch is included.

How to use your DC whetstone:

If your knife is dull, we advise you to start with a diamond stone. After restoring the edge to original shape, de-burr the edge lightly with the ceramic stone in order to get a razor-sharp edge. Use no oil or water. Start by laying the blade flat on the stone, raise the blade spine approx. the thickness of the blade, and start moving the knife in circular motions.

The ink trick:
Colour the edge with a felt-tip pen. You can check your progress in sharpening the knife by observing where the colour is removed.

How to check the sharpness:
To check the sharpness of your knife, pull the edge very lightly on your finger nail. If it cuts, the knife is certainly sharp enough for most tasks.

    Great Service great tool

Posted by Eddie on 4th Jul 2017

First things first, I placed an order at 2.40 on Wednesday got an email at 3.15 to say that order had been dispatched. Order received the next day in Northern Ireland, I have seen sorcery and witchcraft mentioned in other reviews and had a giggle. Now I am convinced and also a bit afraid to give a bad review. I ordered another few bits as well so postage was free to boot. So now about the product, I have an old pocket knife that was given to me a present over 20 years ago when I started working for the Scouts. My daughter has now joined the scouts so I thought it was time to pass it on. I gave the knife a good clean and tried a few strokes on each side and was surprised to find the knife cut paper cleanly. I also bought a set of the rough rider stones and a bottle of Dan's honing oil. I had a few knives in my fishing bag which I am just beginning to dust off and get ready for the summer. I used the Rough Rider Stones with the honing oil first and then finished with the Falkniven stone super sharp. This is a great little field kit and for pocket knives. I have more expensive bench stones for kitchen knives and would say that I couldn't get the knives much sharper. Great products better service.

    Just what I needed

Posted by Dougie on 4th Oct 2016

The stone is a nice portable size so I'll definitely add it to my kit, I have several other stones that I sharpen with at home and I wanted something nice and compact just to touch up my edge now and again while I'm working, not a stone for reprofiling at all, would take all day. Just a great tone to keep that blade sharp. HH service excellent as always! Arrived the next day and I live in Scotland! I swear sorcery is involved, that or other companies are just lazy!

    Good quality stone

Posted by Peter on 16th Jul 2016

Bought this as a pocket sharpener alongside my larger bench stones. The grey diamond side is great at bringing up a blunt edge in relatively few strokes, and could be used for bevel-setting in a pinch, wheras the ceramic white side is (I'm guessing at 8,000 grit) just right for finishing an edge. The size of the stone is perfectly adequate, bearing in mind that this is a pocket stone, and will be fine for the vast majority of pocket folding and smaller fixed blades. Comes in a very nice quality leather wallet as well. Worth the £17, compared to cheaper similar looking stones? I would say so yes.

    Pretty good

Posted by BW on 9th Jul 2016

I once dropped my old DC4 and the ceramic side snapped leaving me with an old Alu oxide stone and a knock off Japanese waterstone (now in the bin). Decided to get one of these to try it out, all I can say is they are pretty good, good price, very well machined surfaces and a few strokes on each side and back to razor sharpness. I hope they make a bigger stone like this. HH fine service again.

    Great Product

Posted by Richard on 16th Nov 2015

After owning the DC4 for a fair while I was happy to hear of a finer ceramic stone by Fallkniven. For the price I was not disappointed. This fine ceramic stone puts a very nice edge on your knives. Used on 154CM and AUS8 and really works a treat. I find it really prepares the edge for stropping better than the DC4 alone. I know the instructions say not to use water but I really find it works better with a drop or two. Buy one, you wont be dissapointed. Good delivery from HH

    Does the job well

Posted by Hugh on 29th Aug 2015

I know the specs are up there ^ but it's still surprisingly small when you first see it. I've mounted mine on a block of wood to give better purchase. The grey 'rough' side makes a good job of sharpening and the white ceramic puts a great finish on an edge.

    Better than the 'new' DC4.

Posted by Chris on 5th Aug 2015

I'm still kicking myself for losing my original DC4. The newer DC4's have a diamond side and a ceramic side that was no way near as fine as the original. This CC4 stone has the same grey ceramic side as the newer DC4, but with a much finer white side as well. In my opinion this white side is finer than the original DC4 ceramic. In short, this is better than both the old and new DC4's. The ceramic side will get the edge in shape, and the white side is really fine for use as a hone to keep an edge in shape. For keeping pocket knives sharp and keeping the edge on my hunting knives in shape this suits my needs really well. Also the ceramic will last longer than the DC4 diamond side.
