Where minimal design meets maximum utility.

The CRKT Pilar™ is a super compact everyday carry folder (law dependent on your country) with distinctive minimalist design and an epic tale behind its name. It’s low profile and understated when tucked away, and carefully designed to punch above its weight when in use.

Jesper Voxnaes designed the Pilar™ in his Logstrup, Denmark shop, and named it after Ernest Heming-way’s beloved sailboat—the 38-foot long vessel that he used for renegade surveillance of German U-boats during WWII in Caribbean waters. The world-famous author was also a WWI vet, big-game hunter, sailor, and fisherman, and certainly would have selected an everyday knife companion like the Pilar™ for his daily endeavors.

The 2.4” flat grind blade features a satin finish and the fine, but strong tip is useful for more detailed tasks. It’s deployed from its stainless steel handle with a thumb slot opening mechanism and is secured with a frame lock for your safety.

The modern Hemingway is the ultimate Renaissance man, and the Pilar™ is the knife that will stand up to the challenge.

    Knife

Posted by DOUGLAS FISHER on 20th Mar 2023

I bought this on special offer for £25. Nice knife, with great ergonomics. The downside was the detent was super strong. Really hard to open. A little easing off of the pivot screw and a little oil made it much better but that made the knife centering way off. With the knife centered perfectly by tightening the screwback up a little, it was again really hard to open. Will take a lot of use to ease it off. But if you are happy with two hand opening it is great.

    CRKT PILAR

What a great and very useful little knife. Having now used this knife for a couple of months I am to say the very least, pleased with this purchase. Easy to open, sharp and a very comfortable handle even in my large hands! Reasonably powerful cutting given the size of the blade and yes, highly recommended.

Very nice solid knife with a nice weight to it, very ergonomic. Capable of carrying out heavier tasks. Came out the box razor sharp.

    great value

Posted by Tom Barnes on 16th Mar 2021

this is a great knife at this price point. it fits nicely in the hand with a for finger cut out it you feel a good deal of control when your chock up on the knife. it is heavy but i like that a feel of weight. that's a issue i have with my Spyderco LiL' Native it's (too light). Again the service from Heinnie Haynes is great ordered in the afternoon next day it came thanks!

    CRKT Pilar

Posted by Darrel Bevan on 18th Feb 2021

Hmmm. I was eagerly anticipating this knife, and in well under 24 hours of purchase, it was delivered to my door. But the knife it just not really that good. Weird scratches/markings on the scales, which have been clumsily worked and finished, and put together with a back spacer in a bit of an ill-fitting way. Blade is off-centre too when closed. It will grow on me as I get used to these imperfections, and it IS a budget knife - I just feel bit disappointed.

    CRKT Stainless

Posted by Mike on 13th Feb 2021

After seeing the reviews for the CRKT HH addition i naturally went a head and purchased one , and soon realised how great this little uk legal folder is ! I then thought , what about the original version that HH model was inspired by ?. So as i see it was back in stock i purchased one ! The first thing thats obvious is the weight of it even when you pick up the box as arrived , the knife is in a brushed stainless steel, which is nice and the clip is the same , tip up or you can tip down too ! Right hand only but thats common on this type of knife ! Fit and finish is very nice for the price point although its almost twice the price of it in the USA, again thats normal? The blade locks up very well and as a locker its non legal UK carry hence the the HH version ! But its for me going to live in the kitchen so not an issue. One point i found strange is that the finger choil is much deeper on the lock model than on the HH slip joint version which should be the other way round i would think ? The pilar original is a sweet little knife with a nice weighty heft that i really like , the HH model is very blade heavy as its the blade mass the bulk of the weight , not so with the original it tends to be the reverse? Blade centering for those who care is one this one ever so slightly to the show side but nothing to really care about ? The only slightly fit finish issue for me is on the back swivel of the blade where it has been ground off by machine to allow the lock bar to grab the blade and keep hold of it , this looks like it was an after thought to make it lock secure ? Its noticeable when the knife is closed and not on the HH non locker as well its not needed ! Apart from that this is another super quality made in China knife ! Service again next day standard free shipping from HH Amazing ...

    Good solid knife

Posted by Rachael on 25th Jul 2019

Had mine a couple of days now thanks to Heinnie's warp factor delivery speed . This is a good solid knife ,yes it is on the heavy side but still ok in the hand I usually like tip up carry but found for me it left to much of the knife showing out the pocket so I left it on tip down ,came very sharp out the box and is fun to open and close one hand if you do the middle finger spidie fl*ck . I like this knife and will be using it a lot but I so wish it was non locking which would make it perfect for uk edc

    Meaty. Sexy. In love.

Posted by Jock on 2nd Jan 2019

Decided my ontario rat of 3 plus years was due changing (nothing wrong other than a bit big) and came across this.. Love it.. I have big hands and fits lovely. Fits into my pocket without being hugely bulky. Nice an strong not just for its size, but believe it would withstand the same abuse that my rat has had on a daily basis with no issues. Highly recommended. Highly in love with Crkt in general. I would really love a Pilar large d2 black.. If only they made a UK legal one. HH were spot on with my questions and delivery was ridiculously quick. Great customer service. Looking forward to expanding my new Knife obsession. Thanks HH!
