Cold Steel SRK Black 5" Compact Fixed Blade 18

I recently bought this knife for camping. The handle is soft to the touch and fits very comfortably and firmly in the hand. The knife looks sturdy. However, for me the downside is that the cutting part is rusting. I used the knife to cut fish on the campsite, after I washed it and wiped it dry with a towel, the next morning it was rusty. It's quite inconvenient to think that you need to treat it with oil every time after contact with water

Whether it's for being tactical or for shift or for bushcrafting camping etc would highly recommend no need for me to go on as there's 24 reviews before me which says it all doesn't it it's a good knife and solid

This is a nice solid knife with a very comfy handle. The tip is needle sharp and the cutting edge is very capable. The knife is front heavy overall, that makes me question how robust the tang is but I have no reason to doubt its robustness. I have dropped a star because I find the sheath quite flimsy and fiddly. But a good package and well worth the asking price.

I love these SRK Compacts. They're light, razor sharp and practical bushcraft/survival knives. I've got 3 different colour variants, the Desert Tan, the Black and now, the Olive Green handled one. All great quality knives, a tried and tested design Cold Steel have been making for years. At £44.95 it's got be one of the best value for money knives money can buy.

Tho smaller than it’s big brother is an excellent bushcraft knife. Especially if you have smaller hands, it will do everything you need it to

This is my 2nd Cold Steel knife made from SK5. I received my Recon Tanto from Heinnie last week and I was so impressed with it's sharpness I decided to add this SRK Compact to my collection as well. Although both could be considered budget friendly knives, they are well made and excellent quality knives. This SRK Compact has a comfortable handle and sturdy secure-ex sheath like most Cold Steel knives. The SK5 blade is ridiculously sharp and from what I've learnt about Cold Steel blades, it will keep it's edge for ages. If maintained properly will only need an occasional stropping to stay that way. I'm going to get a leather sheath as well for this and also use it as an alternative version of a sgian dubh when wearing my kilt. A great little multipurpose knife that should be perfect for bushcraft. It will definitely be part of my survival/camping kit.

I have used this quite a lot, it feels like such a small light convenient knife to have at camp, but can handle a bit of rough stuff, like its big brother. The price is right too. It also has a great useful tip, that is missing of a lot of similar sized knives.

This being my first Cold Steel knife I must say it was a big disappointment. Box was sealed on top and bottom. Slice the top seal to take out the knife, and the first thing I noticed was a missing screw on the right of the sheath. As for the blade itself, very average. Couldn't cut paper in a clean line, very jaggy. I will say Heinnie was great sending out a new screw for the sheath. Perfect customer service as usual. I know lots of people also have trouble with their axis-lock as well. I won't be getting another Cold Steel knife anytime soon.
