COLD STEEL SRK BLACK 6" DARK EARTH FIXED BLADE

Posted by Gerwyn Weaver on 28th Jun 2024

I don’t think there’s anything to say about this one other than it comes ready and rearing to go the edge is lovely and sharp SOTB the quality is a head scratcher for the price as this piece will definitely out live you ( in the good sense) it will take such a brutal testing like it’s nothing !! The grip is very comfortable to use for a long time and you can baton it till your arm falls out the socket. Well if it’s good enough for the Buds SEAL trainees that should give you some idea of its quality. If you want a piece that will take a kicking and keep on ticking then look no further.

    Desert Tan variant

I love this knife. I've got 4 colour variants of the Recon Tanto which I think are all awesome. I'm now getting the matching SRK's and SRK Compacts to have complete sets. As mentioned in the other review there is a design issue with sheaths. Internally on the spine side are 3 ridges that mean the spine of the knife doesn't sit snug against the spine of the sheath. Instead the blade is forced to cut into the sheath. The knife is perfect. The blade is razor sharp and the Kray-Ex handle is comfortable and very grippy. I've got another SRK that had the same issue with the sheath. It is easily fixed by removing the ridges across the spine with a sharpened long shaft 3 or 4 mm screwdriver. This is something Cold Steel need to fix but it's not enough of an issue to merit deducting a star. The SRK (SK5) is a great knife and I will definitely be buying the other colour handle variants.

    SRK in SK5

I love the SRK, having several that I use in the woods. I would have taken a star off for the awful sheath, but I think it's a one-off manufacturing fault as it's not a problem on my other SRKs. On this one the channel is too low so the blade cuts into the sheath, so I'll make a new one.
