So I kept it and began to re-work this knife, update as follows
To start with I hated this knife. See my previous review. Tried to use it out in the feild, failed, failed, failed then sucseeded, but only as a kindling splitter using a batton.. Something had to be done, Job 1: Stripped the thick black coating from the grind angle of the blade. Job 2: The exposed faces were poorly ground and pitted, I use a course flat diamond stone and re-surfaced both blade grinds. Job 3: Re-cut a completely new honing bevel. Job 4: Using a new method of de-burring the honed edge, that I may just apply for patenting status, I now have a very effective cutting edge. Still hate the bendy rubber handle, the multi-material sheath, got to replace this with a single piece wrapped leather alternative. Will remove the black finish on the spine and apply a sharp square edge. Many hours spent making this knife begin to work, this knife is presented poorly from Cold Steel, could offer so much more, There is the potential for a good knife, so far the hours spent have been woth it. lets see what happens next
