Functional art. Great fit and finish, arrived sharp enough and in a remarkably short period of time. Reassuringly heavy- for when you want that. Made short work of peeling Willow and Yew rods, this morning but still ergonomic enough, to clean under my fingernails. Has a bullet proof quality; I wish I'd bought this one, thirty years ago.
nice solid lock knife top quality materials Solid in hand no blade play whatsoever ss blade sharp out of box. field work hunting and a great Bushcraft knife ...brass bolsters with hard ebony wood scales..Oil scales and they look even nicer..quality
Superb service! Prompt despatch! Well packaged! Good price! I’ll be back ! Lovely quality Knife as you would expect from Buck knives. Thank you. Highly recommended.
Glad I chose this over the 110, its still hefty but a great pocket knife. Surprised how well finished it is for the money. Really handsome and razor sharp right to the tip. If I was picking faults the pin holding the back lock is steel not brass which looks a little out of place on the scales, the brass quickly tarnishes and you could get snooty about it being only 420 steel. Get the pro version if that bothers you but you lose that classic look. A great knife.
A real work of art! The milled brass bolsters / liners, a signature Buck feature, blend smoothly with the tactile curvature of the Macassar ebony scales to create a practical and ergonomic form that perfectly fits one’s grasp. This one is the model without finger grooves. The action seems gritty but it is simply the powdered graphite dry lubricant as shipped from the factory, and it will assist the mechanism to smoothly wear in. But I cleaned mine out with a tissue anyway. The lock is very firm and secure, and the blade is tidily finished with good attention to evenness of the grinding. The sharpness is excellent with no wire edges anywhere along the length of the cutting edge. The satin finish is just barely not as fine as on my vintage late 1970’s 110 Folding Hunter, but I do actually prefer the rounded contouring of this model 112 Ranger. A comfortable improvement on the original design with its square corners. The smaller Ranger actually fits my hand better, as much as I appreciate my vintage 110. The fit and finish is superb. The point of balance in the open position is right in the middle of the handle, so exactly in the centre of your grip. The sheath is well made, smoothly finished, and the subtle pleasant texture of the leather complements the compact glossy appearance of the Ranger. This is an excellent addition to any collection, and as a working knife the Buck 112 has a respected pedigree. Best to not store the knife in its sheath as after several years a reaction can occur between the leather and the brass bolsters depending on which end is at the bottom of the sheath. That is what happened over time with my Buck 110. Also, in time a small circular impression on the wood will form from the sheath’s snap. It is just a little character, a sign of years of service. Very pleased with this purchase, and thank you for such an excellent experience!
glad to see another company that is able to use next day delivery unlike a lot of others just now . Knife is nice and sharp a bit stiff to open but am ok with that and leather pouch seems to be of good quality 5 stars for service and quality
Ordered and recieved quickly so top marks to HH on that front Knife from new very stiff to open and even harder close the mechanism very stiff. Eventually freed up with lots of oil and working the action until became smooth. Still stiff but useable now. From factory not as sharp as expected but easy enough to sharpen but shouldn't have to. Also the liner edges a little sharp in places specifically around the lock back release. Again a small problem easily rectified with small piece of emery paper and careful slow buff took rough burr off the edge Again all above points niggles more than problems but dont expect on that price of knife. However overall think will last long time as now free looks to be well made and robust enough to be durable for a long time.
given to me as a gift by an old friend who knows of my love of knives, solid construction, razor sharp,no blade wobble, feels very secure, very useful working knife, proud to own this beauty, usual Buck quality, fantastic.
