Blank arrived in typical HH prompt fashion. On first inspection all looked good, until I got to the tang. Digs and what looked like cracks all over it. I was going to send it back but decided with a bit of work it would probably scrub up ok. A couple of minutes on the belt grinder soon had it sorted. But to be honest that should never had got passed quality control.
This is a good little blank but a similar, slightly bigger blade has just come on this HH site for £1 less so I'd say go for that one instead. It's still a perfectly good item which would make a nice Bushcfaft knife , though & is a well balanced design that takes a good edge.
I bought two blanks, this one and the 8.25 Bowie. compared to the Bowie it is much easier to work with, has polished up well and has generally been a fun little venture so far. I will be ordering another full tang knife soon as I have been finding this a lot of fun!
This is a very nice little blade.....once the handle was on it felt very nice in the hand and has a great blade profile....very nice especially for the price!
Perfect service and delivery from HH. The knife itself is great value, perfect for a little project, practicing on, or experimenting on with little outlay. 5 stars all the way
Just finished using some workbench offcuts for the scales. http://www.safetydoc.co.uk/Blade.JPG It's a good project for my 1st attempt at making a handle. If I did another, I would miss out the 3rd Pin on the end (My mistake) It fits nicely into the 5" nylon sheath - code SH262.
What do you want for 8 quid?! I'm personally happy with this blank as it's not one I'll actually use. Do your own file work along the spine, buff it up nice & shiny & put some half decent scales on for the handle. You'll end up with a braw wee knife for the collection with the added satisfaction that you actually made it unique to your own tastes. If you want a wee project, then buy one, but if you expect perfection at this price, stop moaning & don't be so tight with the pennies, spend £40+ before moaning about it lol >;o)
