Easy to see why its been running for 20+ years

Posted by AK on 29th Aug 2024

+ Outstanding build quality. + Break-in took a day. Action is the best on any knife I've had, with any lock mechanism. + Nice understated colour scheme without being same old black and silver. + Dimensions are not the whole story. For a "larger" knife, this is more comfortable in the hand and the pocket than a Para 2. ~ A bit heftier than I'm used to, in terms of weight. ~ Tight pocket clip, needed some easing out. ~ Anodized aluminium handle is gripper than you think, but its going to show its age quicker than say G10. - Typical Benchmade weird sharpening angle (just do 20 already).

Benchmade 940 Osborne Aluminium Folding Knife

Posted by Jason Rodd on 16th Jun 2024

This has been my EDC for 2 years now and it gets used multiple times every day. Absolutely love it, no complaints, a pleasure to use. I have not needed to do anything other than touch up the blade as and when needed. Nothing has come loose, if you fancy this knife, don't hesitate, go for it.

    Benchmade Osbourne 940

Posted by John Paver on 6th Oct 2023

This is quickly becoming my favourite knife, I love the weight of it, it feels secure in my hand. It has the smoothest action and a really slim profile so it doesn't feel cumbersome in my pocket. It just feels quality, throughout the design and the materials used.

No negative words to say with this (old) but new to me folder. No action ive felt like it. Smooth and just perfection in my eyes.

    Benchmade 940

Posted by Chris on 31st May 2022

Bought a 940 and a Ontario Rat 1 together. I was left feeling underwhelmed with the 940. Blade grinds were uneven and edge were very rough. Blade centering left a lot to be desired and side to side blade play were present unless tightening the pivot to the extent that opening is almost impossible. The Rat 1 on the other hand was perfect!

    Superb knife

Posted by Joe W on 19th Jan 2022

Finally acquired my first Benchmade after reading and watching a lot of reviews. Settled on this 940 Osborne and couldn’t be happier. Spent a while deciding between this and the other variants (carbon fibre, mini etc) and went with the original. It’s a beautiful knife which feels great in the palm and has a very slick opening and closing action. The green handle is a darker more subdued colour than the pic, which is a plus point in my book, and the size is just perfect. Great service and comms from HH as usual.

    A fun light-use knife

Posted by Marcus on 29th Sep 2021

It’s a great knife and mostly lives up to the hype. It’s buttery smooth and razor sharp. There is a tiny amount of side to side blade play which is apparently normal and is a side effect of the smooth action. You can reduce blade play by tightening the pivot screw but then it’s no longer smooth and flicky as it’s meant to be. I’d recommend it as a fidget toy and a light use knife. I wouldn’t recommend using it for heavy duty tasks . There are much sturdier knives out there. To conclude, I’d say the 940 is a must for any knife enthusiast.

    Osborne

Posted by James Close on 24th Sep 2021

I bought this thinking this is silly, nearly £180 for a knife. Well it is worth every penny, nothing short of superb. Perfectly centered, sharp as a razon, drop shut action and melts into the hand . A wonderful knife and now in my top three favourites. Thanks HH.
