The Viper Dan was designed to answer a specific modern day requirement: suitable for everyday work, and not considered offensive. Designed by Tommaso Rumici and manufactured by Italian masters, Viper, the Dan 2 fits the bill and then some. It also ticks so many boxes on the aesthetic front with the addition of these exquisite wooden handle scales.

This is Viper's first folder equipped with the mechanical Action Stopper, now thoroughly tested over many years since its debut. It acts as a handy "brake" when opening and closing the blade preventing unwanted closure and resultant accidents.

The Viper Dan 2 (Daily Assorted Needs) features a Wharncliffe blade made from N690 and sharpened to an extreme, hair splitting edge. There is a choice of handle scale; olive, ziricote or bocote each one with its own character but all beautiful to look at and a pleasure to use and handle.

    Viper Dan2 Wood

Superb knife, very light and good factory edge. One handed opening easy to master and a great convenience feature.

    Top quality, very happy

Posted by Mark on 1st May 2020

Excellent knife has everything I wanted, looks and feels amazing, one handed open takes practice but works well, deep carry clip, sits very nicely in the hand, very sharp out the box slight uneven grind on mine buts doesn't effect the use, I got the dark wood scales and it looks very nice indeed, well worth the price glad I bought it, definitely recommend.

    A stylish gentleman's knife.

Posted by Martin on 28th Dec 2019

I bought the viper dan 2 with olive wood scales as a Christmas present to myself. My first impression was, fine looking quality knife, but how do you successfully deploy the blade, well a week later and much practice I now have it mastered. After a quick run over the strop the blade is impressively sharp, this knife is now my edc, I'm well pleased and glad I purchased from heinnie haynes, great service as usual.

Best EDC pocket knife by far!

Posted by Sean on 30th Jul 2019

I have the Viper Dan 2 olive wood scales. In my opinion it is the best pocket knife you could ever buy, I cannot find one single bad thing to say, it is as close to perfection as is possible. The overall quality is faultless, the ease of one hand opening and closing is effortless, the looks are to die for and it is UK friendly! You have so many options to choose, ie, two styles of blade shape and seven different handle materials, something for everyone! Forgot to mention it's hair shavingly sharp!! Thankyou to HH for your usual excellent service.

    Quick update

Posted by singleagain on 13th Jun 2018

This is my third comment on this knife. Bear with me HH. I previously commented that the Dan is difficult to open one handed, but then it occurred to me that I had a couple of Kwik Thumb studs that I bought from HH a while back. Dug one out, fitted it and problem solved! Basically you just push up on the thumb stud - with your thumb - and then hook your index finger round the extended tang and pull back. Simples! The only downside is that the thumb stud detracts from the elegant look of the knife, so it may not be a permanent addition. We shall see!

    Very Stylish

Posted by Singleagain on 30th May 2018

This is a very stylish knife. In my case, like the previous reviewer, with Ziricote scales. This is a really beautiful dark wood with lovely grain. But it might also be a good excuse to buy a Dan 1 with one of the other two handle options! The blade action is fairly stiff, and quite difficult to open one-handed, but I guess this is no bad thing in a non-locking knife. I have seen a You Tube review that was critical of the handle shape but it's comfortable for me. I particularly like the rounded edge profile. The clip allows a nice deep carry and despite it's size the knife does not look too threatening in use. As an EDC this scores by looking much less 'tactical' than my Boker + XS, and being able to handle bigger jobs than my Black Fox Bean Gen 2. Definitely recommended. Great service from HH as ever - ordered on Bank Holiday Monday, delivered Wednesday morning.

    Stylish in Ziricote scales

Posted by Jon O'kelly on 20th May 2018

I've read a few reviews that are critical of the blade retention on this knife. So... it is not as stiff as a "Lansky world legal" but it holds in position more firmly than a "CRKT Liong Mah #5" After 3 days of use, I'd say that tasks that this knife is designed to undertake should be perfectly safe as is. Hell...this is an elegant looking gentleman's folder, I didn't buy it to baton firewood for goodness sake. Its sharp out of the box but was better after I showed it the strop. 3 days use so far and there has been no need to touch up the edge. The blade steel needs no introduction and is of a standard one would expect from a £100 knife. I love the blade shape branded as a "modified wharncliffe" and can confirm that it slices nicely. The pocket clip is perfection allowing deep carry and is easily re-mounted for lefties. Above al though, and the reason that I took the trouble to jot a few words about this knife are the handle scales. I chose the Ziricote which is the darkest of the three wood options. They are nicely finished and on close examination the small swirls and black lines running through the grain do not disappoint. This knife in my opinion looks very classy and deserves to be called a gentleman's folder. As usual, 10/10 for HH usual service

    Keep away from children!

Posted by Singleagain on 6th Jan 2018

This is not really a review - I've done that already - but it might amuse. Carrying the knife today, and it is very lightweight and unobtrusive. So, talking to one of my colleagues who habitually carries a pocket knife, I thought I would show him the new toy. Very nice he says, and despite my warning shout pulled it across the back of his hand. No, this is not a blunt penknife - we then spent the next ten minutes staunching the blood. Seriously, don't show this to chi**ren!
