The Viper Dan was designed to answer a specific modern day requirement: suitable for everyday work, and not considered offensive. Designed by Tommaso Rumici and manufactured by Italian masters, Viper, the Dan 1 fits the bill - and then some! It also ticks many boxes on the aesthetic front with the addition of these exquisite wooden handle scales.

This is Viper's first folder equipped with the mechanical Action Stopper®, now thoroughly tested over many years since its debut. It acts as a handy "brake" when opening and closing the blade preventing unwanted closure.

The Viper Dan (Daily Assorted Needs) 1 features a drop point blade made from N690 and sharpened to an extreme, hair splitting edge.

There is a choice of handle scale; olive, ziricote or bocote each one with its own character but all beautiful to look at and a pleasure to use and handle.

    A beast

Posted by Konrad on 31st Aug 2020

First off, there's no question that this is a cracking knife. Wonderful materials (I went for Ziricote) and the most substantial grip I own. I also love the "Action Stopper' mechanism to safely open and close the blade. However, when I received the knife, it made such a 'huge' impression that I immediately reached for my ruler to confirm 'UK-friendliness'... and that brings me to a point about this knife that I think buyers should consider... The max height of the blade is 27mm - more than an inch in old money. That's a huge folder blade and grip to contain it. It definitely doesn't make a traditional 'gentleman's folder' or 'pocket-knife' impression. Whipping it out in 'polite company' - in these hopelessly over-sensitive times we live in - will make people 'run for the exits'. Let's just call it the Grizzly Adams Gentleman's Folder. Luckily I'm out in the forest with the dogs on a daily basis and happily clip it in my pocket. While it is nominally a 'UK-friendly' knife - and a great knife at that - but not for all UK EDC situations.

Why oh Why would you do this to me

Thnaks HH, just making me spend more money. I never thought they could improve on the Dan and then they bring out wood versions. I went for Bocote as love dark hard woods and this doesn't fail to impress, it is stunning. if you want a UK friendly that oozes class get a wooden Dan. Only joking HH I love you to bits seeing as you get it to me Saturday morning.
