Victorinox Recruit 84mm Red Folding Knife 18

I love this knife as an EDC, it is legal to just leave in my jeans pocket when out, the blades are what you expect from a Swiss Army Knife, no they don't hold an edge as well as more modern blades but they are easy to sharpen to a razors edge and having 2 blades does mean you should not be caught out. the other tools are hand at times, being only 2 layers means the handle is thin enough to be comfortable but thick enough to get a solid grip in use. I have other SAKs but this is what I tend to carry daily

I got this because I have carried a knife most of my life but I wanted something a lttle smaller than I used to carry, The recruit is slim comfortable and easy on the pocket (both money and jeans) The blades are what you expect from a Swiss Army Knife, just a few mm shorter, they take a wicked edge though which is easy to maintain, I have much better, tougher and stronger knives that will hold an edge far longer but for quick tasks this knife is ideal, and you hardly notice it is there when you don't need it, big enough to be useful but small enough to not be inconvenient

Victorinox Recruit is an 84mm two layer model unique to the fact its got no back layer tools in the cellidor range ! . The advantage of this is a comfortable knife to use and it also has much thicker back springs giving this slip joint model an advantage over others in this size range ! A good choice for younger users ie cubs guides etc ? This is also one of those models well featured in the tv show MacGyver in the 80s ! The pricing is strange with the 84mm victorinox models and has been for decades ? This model is only a couple of pounds cheaer than models with the extra back layer tools or even the reverse for tools with less ? Weird ! This Recruit would be nice with a file in place of small blade like the alox cadet ? The knife is recommended at £14.95 money you can easily pay for much inferior knives to keep it respectful ? Service was quality as usual from HH with free post received next day .....

Excellent little knife. Bargain for £14.95. Knife blade is smaller than that of a standard 91mm SAK (so not as long as a spartan etc.). Works well for a workplace EDC where they wouldn't like a UKPK. Also note that the can opener and bottle opener work really well, but are thinner than that of the standard spartan versions.
