Great knife, the wood was a little bit rough around the edges but for the quality of the blade and the actual design of the hold, it’s worth it. Great outdoors and everyday carry, gets the job done and holds an edge like a pro. Would recommend

Definatly something peasenty about this knife. If I were a peasent I think I would be happy with this knife. Safe to hold as the hand holds the lever down which open/closes the knife! Got mine shaving sharp and blued the blade with a blow torch ;) Only neg it that the screws are not flush but it's solid. Here's a photo: *

First of all let me say I like this knife, on its own merits it is a very good outdoor/camping/bushcraft knife. But for the price you can buy other better finished knives and have change. As has been said many times the handle is not finished as well as it could be. On my knife the sides of the handle were slightly different in size and the varnish finish is a sloppy job. Easy, and quite enjoyable, to strip, sand and wax to get a nice finish but for £35 why doesn't the manufacturer do this for you? The blade comes sharp and takes a lovely edge. The grind on mine was a little uneven, again for the price this is a little naughty. I love the design and old fashion style of the knife. It is genuinely a classic and a must have for any collection. In summary this is a great knife. Unique, stylish and a nice bit of kit. However, if you are buying this as a user it's worth considering that for the price of one of these you could buy three Opinels or three, maybe four, Moras. I do really like it but I can't help thinking it is a peasant knife that is out of the price range of most peasants.

It's a practical woodland-use type blade that will take and hold a sharp edge. It's a very simple design and easily dismantled and adjusted. Seems reasonably but not immensely strong. I think it's a decent knife with some historical interest. Not entirely sure about its cult status online. I've ground off a bit off the back of the blade to make it UK carry legal which is great as I can take it camping with no worries about accidentally forgetting to take it out of my pocket or car and later getting nicked for it. Really for nigh on £30 for the wooden scales, you're not getting that much. If I bought another one I'd get the plastic one where I think the price makes it solid value.

Ok, let me start off by saying thanks for the pressie Rhys! This is not a top end knife as we all know. This hasn't got the best blade in the world and the wooden scales are...erm...rustic to say the least and 'yes' the lower end scales do close together when the blade is swung out. But, this is a brilliant tool! If you want a knife to put in a glass case then stop reading - this is not the knife for you. If, however, you are in need of a tough bladed, easy to maintain workhorse then you may be in luck. I have used this since October '13 and have sharpened it once. It has retained the edge well and after a bit of sanding down and lots of linseed oil the handle is silky smooth, comfy and looks pretty darn good. This is all for less than £20! A simple, effective and trusty knife and one I recommend.

Great : - Very simple and efficient design - Good steel (easy to sharpen, great cut) - Nice blade shape (efficient and powerful) - Assembled with screws !!! Disassemble to clean, sand, oil and pamper it. Reassemble and get a knife made to your liking. - Very light ! Bad : - Badly finished blade : rough and asymetrical cutting edge, clipped point. - Badest handle ever seen. Raw low end average red wood, light as balsa, shaped with a spoon... disappointing is a weak word. - Totally shitty assembly. When closing the blade, it thrusts apart the scales !!! Some shims are definitely needed at the butt end assembly screw. Anyway, the essentials are right. Add some brass or stainless shims at the butt. Cut the silly pointed butt and round it. File and sand the raw edged handle to a decent, handy shape. Sharpen and correct patiently the blade : you'll get a one of its kind knife with very dependable abilities. (Almost) hate at first sight, but love on the long term, I believe.

This was my first order from HH and the service was excellent. The knife has a beautiful blade and a reasuringly solid action. The handle probably won't suit everyone as it is...rustic. But that is the essence of its charm, if you don't like it, get one of the plastic or metal ones! Absolutely love it and I have already placed my next order with HH.
