If you already own a Delica or Endura, you have one of the best selling knives Spyderco makes. The knife you have just acquired is a bit different from the normal C10 Endura 4 and C11 Delica 4 Lightweights. They are now available in a range of new handle colors with full-flat ground blades.

Their FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handles come in new vibrant tones including blue, green, brown, gray and purple. Molded onto the handle's surface is Bi-Directional Texturing™ for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity.

The blades are full flat-ground VG-10 with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade's spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left-or right-handed clip.

Spyderco Delica 4 Full Flat Grind FRN

Posted by Tim B on 11th Sep 2021

If this knife is “obsolete” in 2021, as so many internet knife-punters would have you believe, then why do people still buy them? Well, I bought one and now I know why – there’s just something about the blade, the feel in the hand, the size, the weight and the aesthetics of this knife that says “quality”. I don’t miss a choil, I like the steel and the blade profile, the back lock is positive and safe, the clip is sturdy and can be positioned wherever you like and the scales really suit my hands; the bi-directional grip pattern is very broad and positive in all directions and the FRN is strong with full length, skeletonised steel liners giving a lovely weight and stiffness to the whole knife. I like this knife a great deal and I think there’s a reason why things do well over time when they’re well conceived and well designed from the beginning. Yes, there are cars that can go faster than the Porsche 911 these days, but it is still sought after and great fun to drive, even though the car has been continuously enhanced through the years but the basic concept has remained unchanged. The Delica is very much like that in my mind; it’s the Porsche 911 of folding pocket knives.

    Great

A modern classic folding pocket knife with proven materials and proven performance attributes; maybe not the most complete model, but it will do well for most...

Very very good knife... yet... the ergonomics...

Posted by Alan on 6th Jun 2019

This is truly a very very good knife. I got a blue one and I love the color and people don't find it threatening when I use it because of the color. The blade shape is amazing and practical, the finish is really good and the back lock is great. It's even fun fl**king it open and closing it with one hand all day long. The size is good and it is pretty light. All that being said, there is one thing that doesn't work for me, it's the ergonomics. I don't feel comfortable holding it. It's like my index needs a space that it doesn't have (Spyderco you know what to do now for the Delica 5). With the same type of size, I prefer the Native 5 lightweight as the ergonomics are so much better. Also the native 5 is just a tiny bit shorter and slimmer in the pocket. I think it is worth the extra money. All that being said. The Delica 4 is an amazing EDC knife. The ergonomics is a personal thing I guess. Great service from HH, thank you

Excellent pocket knife - indispensable round the house

Posted by Bart Read on 21st Mar 2017

So, first thing, wow - when I bought this knife only a month ago (mid-Feb 2015) it was still available for only £62.95, and at that price it was an absolute bargain. At £99.95 I'm not so sure I'd call it a bargain (gee, thanks, Brexit) but it's still a good knife. I'd watched Nick Shabazz's review of this knife on YouTube, which inspired me to get it, and really it's just as he says. When it first arrived the action was a little gritty, but I just spent some time opening and closing it - just when sat watching TV or whatever - and it's really loosened up and is now incredibly easy to open and fold shut with one hand. The back lock I was initially unsure off but actually, if you leave your fingers in place, it's absolutely impossible to close the blade on them by mistake, and overall it's a very safe and solid feeling knife. Lock up is excellent, it's lightweight, and an incredibly useful cutting instrument. I find myself using it all the time. Before buying I was concerned about how plasticky the G10 scales would feel but, actually, they're very solid and strong, whilst ensuring the knife is incredibly lightweight. The texturing is good and inspires a lot of confidence when holding the knife. My only real beef is the clip, which isn't deep carry, but then I only use this round the house anyway so it doesn't really matter. Other potential downsides: there isn't anything in the way of a choil really, but that hasn't been a problem for me. The final thing to say is that this has impressed me so much I've also bought the leaf bladed Spyderco UK Penknife so that I have something I can carry around when I'm out and about. Honestly, this is the first pocketknife I've owned, apart from some hopeless Swiss Army style multitools, which I've never got on with. I now find a knife to be an absolutely indispensable everyday tool.

As good as its reputation suggests

Had my grey Delica 4 for a couple of years now, superb knife. Easy to sharpen, great ergonomics.

    Perfect knife

Posted by _Slevy on 6th Oct 2016

This is an absolutely great knife. Small and compact it fits nicely in the hand and weighs nothing in the pocket. Despite its small size it's easily capable of bigger cutting tasks. The FRN is really grippy and solid so don't be fooled into thinking it's a cheap plastic, it's not, it's robust and lightweight. Spyderco do some other colours that the HH team can order for you if you contact them (I got the brown) they told me it would be a 4 week wait, I had the knife in 4 days!

I have a small collection of folders (40 at last count). If i only had a Delica 4 i would be happy and a lot richer.I try to use them in a rotation, but always end up with this in my pocket.Save up and buy one,it really is the only one you need.I love my blue one,the only other knife i will ever buy is maybe a green one.Ha Ha.It sits in the pocket without you feeling it. Stays sharp, what more can you ask...

    You'll wonder why you hesitated.....

Posted by Sputnik on 27th Feb 2016

Best EDC ever. Light weight, simple construction, excellent materials. I've got two (up to now) and many other Spyderco's including ZDP's and Sprint Runs. Scalpel sharp on delivery and I have at least one with me all the time so while others are rootong through kitchen drawers for scissors I've already got the job done right from my pocket. FRN handle scales are more useful than they look (even with gloves). You'll wonder why you hesitated when you have one in your hand. Heinnie Haynes delivery is bordering on witchcraft. Ordered at lunchtime and my Delica arrived in less than 18 hours! WTF???!!!!
