    Just Ok

Posted by Al on 10th Dec 2021

This particular Rough Ryder looks and feels good The main blade is a bit longer than three inches in total! Mostly fine but the scales don’t meet the main body at one end leaving a visible gap.,hence only 3 stars

    Old yellow large stockman

For only £15 this is a true bargain & Any adverse comment would be churlish. You can pay much more for other colours but it's still the same knife. You can also pay more for a more prestige brand name but most of those are also made in China so why bother - unless you are an avid collector with deep pockets. I was slightly disappointed that the blade I use most is the one that's bent to fit between the other 2 but at least it does pare/scoop in the right direction for a right hander but southpaws might struggle. This is a great, traditional pocket knife that my grandad would recognize & is well made & finished. The box was a tight fit, though!

    Excellent traditional workhorse

HH as usual gave no problems whatsoever. A brilliant retailer. I'm a big fan of RR. At first I thought that this knife was middle of the road. It is an older model with no half stops, which is fine, a bit of fit and finish issues, but not too bad and a some minor blade rub which is hard to avoid at this price point. The pull is soft on this one, but I've heard that some in this series have incredibly hard pulls. I think that RR quality control was inconsistent when these were made. It's redeeming features are the colour, which is a very nostalgic yellow, and the blades. They are all substantial - not thick, but deep. The main has a 2¾" cutting edge, which is UK legal. I love the Sheepsfoot, which is substantial. Most of all I was surprised at the edge on all blades. It's my sharpest knife out of the box! If you can overlook some minor imperfections this is a cracking old school Stockman!

Amazing. I don't know how RR produce knives of this quality for the price. The sharpness of the blade is up there with my Case and Buck pocket knives at about a quarter of the price.

    A Nice Old Style Knife

    Posted by john6316 on 9th Feb 2018

When it arrived I was surprised at how big it actually was. A nice solidly built piece of kit. Love the finish , it looks like a good old fashioned knife. Definitely good vfm and it will form a regular part of my regularly used Rough Riders. Anyone looking at these, get one.
