great knife
Greatt knife. Takes a very sharp edge, and keeps it well. Comfortable in the hand, useful spike. Excellent.
Bought this on the reviews of others just to have a marlin spike in my collection.i choose the white bone and the reason I give 4 stars one rivet had hairline cracks around it and repaired to an acceptable degree.
I had, for a while, wanted a knife with a Marlin spike for rope work at scouts. Having bought the RR Micarta Sowbelly (again, from HH) I knew the quality would be great. So it was. This arrived very quickly (thanks to HH) and it's a lovely piece. The blade is sharp, the spike locks solidly in place and the release mechanism feels robust. The knife sits comfortably in the hand and has a reassuring weight to it. I bought the white scaled version and I'm really pleased with it, so much so that I am considering buying another for my brother, who is with the Sea Scouts. Lovely knife. Terrific service. Thank you.
The white bone version of this knife arrived today and it made me happy. It looks better than the version with the anchor inlay. The fit and finish is really good.. Sometines Rough Ryder don’t get this right, but when they do you can’t fault them. Good walk & talk, and it’s heavy (as a working knife should be). For a very reasonable £24 this is an excellent pocketknife! HH gave the great customer service, as always!
I've had a bone handled one of these for a while. I prefer the white, as it doesn't have the tacky anchor inlay, and looks a bit more 'scrimshawy', which being a traditional Jack Tar knife, makes sense. This is a really solid piece- I've got a lot of RR stuff, and the only issue I've ever really had was the lateral play on the pivots, which I put down to the riveted construction. Not so with this one, though.... not the slightest play on either blade, really solid lock up on the marlin spike, and really good back spring tension on the sheepsfoot blade...if it was double the money, it would still be a bargain! HH brilliant, as ever....
