Looks good and very, very practical design. The ULU will make you spend less time doing the kitchen hardwork. Got mine today, tested on some meat and vegetables, I was impressed on how fast you can chop and cut with this thing. Relatively thin blade, makes it perfect for fine cuts. Great addition to any kitchen. Totally recommend.

Brilliant value for money. I bought it for leather work and was very impressed with how sharp it is. It easily sliced through 3mm tooling leather. I can see it as being useful for many other applications too.

Our Ulu arrived today, must say I'm impressed. Very sharp out of the box. Handle is on the small side or would have been 5 stars. Shaves the hairs on my arm.

Having seen the traditional Inuit ulu being used on "Life Below Zero'" to fillet enormous salmon, clean seal skins and other uses, I fancied getting one to try out, but generally for more mundane purposes, mainly cutting vegetables and chopping herbs. This 'Rough Ryder' Ulu is well made, a nice size (150 mm wide blade) and comfortable to hold. The wooden handle is simple but well finished. I personally like the single-blade-attached-to-handle traditional style Ulu, which is more typical of Ulu's actually used in arctic Canada and Greenland. Souvenir type Ulu's tend to have a cut out for fingers below the handle, although I'm sure they work just as well for preparing food. Finally, does it work? Yes it does for me ....but always use a cutting board as the Ulu is really sharp.

I bought this item in 2014, and although in the kitchen since then it has only seen very occasional use, roughly 10 - 15 times a year, as I mostly forget that it is there. Recently my wife used it to cut herbs (which is its main role and use). So thought it has only been sharpened once and that is from new, so needs a resharpen. However, upon inspection of the blade I noticed 8 vertical fractures in the blade from the edge, ranging from 3 -7 mm in length, considering the little use that this had I am a little disappointed. I emailed Heinnie to make them aware of the fault and contacted Rough rider directly, as this is material defect, still waiting to hear back..... If this had normal medium use the fault would have presented itself within the year, if not a few months, so check the blade for same issues. Have dropped my rating from 4 stars to 1, due to material defects that should have not have happened, unsure to whether to bin it or grind 10mm back up the blade.....time will tell, or a request from my wife?

From finding your website, ordering an Ulu and it arriving through the post the service has been excellent. I have been fascinated with the Ulu since watching Agnes Hailstone use one on the TV series 'Life below Zero. Now I've got one and it is amazing! I'm using it for chopping, slicing, dicing - ion even you start using it, it's amazing what you can use it for. I'd recommend it for any kitchen. Thank you
