Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety
ring was improved in 2000 on all the Opinel ranges. It
is also now possible to lock the blade in the closed
position (safety during carrying). In addition to the
ultra safe locking system, the rounded tip on this
model is perfect for a first camping knife.

The Sandvik stainless steel, developed by Opinel is
renowed for its incomparable cutting qualities and
does not require any special washing upkeep. It has a
carbon content of at least 0.40%, giving it a good
cutting edge and an excellent resistance to corrosion.

    Exactly what you'd expect

Posted by Peter on 5th Jun 2018

It's an Opinel, with a round tip. Exactly what you'd expect it to be, perfectly fine. It's ground thin, so it's a brilliant slicer. Inox steel, so no rusting. Handle is very comfortable. Lock is great, locks the blade in both an open and closed position if that's your thing. Ideal for kids, as a locking knife is inherently much safer for new knife users. It's chunkier than a lot of knives, so it makes for a larger in-pocket carry than I'd normally go for, but it's very comfortable and good looking. The wood looks great, and really adds to the ultra non-tactical design. I took the locking collar off, which makes it borderline UK legal, sitting right on the limit for blade length. However, I'm pretty sure most cops would see this as considerably less dangerous than something with a pointy tip, so to me it seems ideal for picnics and the like. Great as a cheap, all around blade.

    A nice little knife

Posted by ChazzyB on 27th May 2016

I bought this knife as I can no longer get a sharp edge on my old trusty penknife, and I sliced my fingers every time I opened the first replacement knife I bought! The Opinel No.07 is very safe and I haven't cut myself once with it. It's like a very sharp butter knife. I have actually used it to make a sandwich. There is no point in trying to use it as a letter opener, as there is literally no point on the blade. I would happily give this as a present to a young person as their first pocket knife.

    Performs as required.

Bought this for slicing fruit and spreading stuff on oatcakes at work. Performs both tasks well. Comfortable to hold, easy to clean. I like it.

    excellent first knife

Posted by dewi on 12th May 2015

Next day delivery. Bought two for my grandsons for in the woods and down the allotment. Same build quality as my 30year old opinel that is still going strong. Nicely rounded end for safety and safely locks open and closed .

    Opinel round end knife No7

Posted by Jeff Gale on 18th Feb 2012

Not just for kids. Punctured a hole in my lightweight sleeping air mat with point of Mora craft knife also hole in my Sea to Summit kitchen sink. When I got back from trip, ordered this Opinel, very sharp but no dagger point. Not a bushcraft knife but good camp knife. I like it. P.S. Smoothed point of Mora knife.

    My Perfect Pocketknife.

Posted by Nor on 24th Feb 2010

Lovely little knife. 'Bought this as a general pocket knife and went for the round point for spreading stuff on my sandwiches :-). Was really impressed by everything about this knife. Blade opened smooth as you like. Fit and finish really nice, no play or wobble anywhere, cuts like a demon...I think I have just found my perfect everyday single blade pocketknife! Opinel sell this as a youngsters first knife...if I had be given this as a young lad I would have been over the moon :-).
