The Opinel Pruning Knife is part of their Nature range. Within this range Opinel offers an entire range of knives for your gardening tasks and forays into the woods: garden knives, mushroom knives, pruning knives and saws. An ideal collection for making the most of nature and everything it has to offer.

The pruning knife has a curved blade, bevelled on both sides making it ideal for trimming shrubs, or grafting fruit trees.

Please note the smaller No8 will have a shallower curve than the larger No10

It has a varnished Beech handle and carbon steel blade.

The blade is cut out from a strip of steel, the blade is heat-treated to alter the internal structure of the steel, making it very hard. This raw blade then passes through a series of specific grinding wheels in the fully robotised grinding- polishing machines. They give it the unique domed Opinel profile which ensures unrivalled strength and cutting edge.

Includes safety ring VIROBLOC to lock the blade. The Virobloc was invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring was improved on all Opinel ranges in 2000. In addition to the blade in the open position (safety in use), the blade can now be locked in the closed position (safety in transport).

Both versions are good useful knives.

Excellent delivery from HH yet again. I have both versions of this knife and they are typical Opinel basic and effective. They both have inox blades which hold a good edge and are easy to keep clean. And are sharp when they arrive. The handles are comfortable to hold in cold weather, but the blades can be sometimes stiff to open. I personally find the larger knife more useful as the blade's hook is far more pronounced than it's smaller version. The downside is it is considerably more expensive abot £3.50 /cm . Usually carry it on a loop firmly closed! as it is a bit large for the pocket; which leads me onto my only grouse. The lanyard hole is too small fortunately this can be remedied very easily as the handle is wooden and there is enough of it to accommodate a larger hole. This makes a good partner for the Opinel gardening knife.(No I don't work for Opinel!)
