Good, but not as good as they used to be …
Many years ago whilst motorcycling through the Alps I called in at the Opinel factory in Chambéry. Bought some kitchen knives and I’m still using them today. What’s happened in the intervening years? Basically, the beech handles (scales) have shrunk and changed shape. The old handles were much more ergonomic and characterful. It’s a shame that Opinel’s penny-pinching risks devaluing the brand. Nevertheless, these are still good kitchen knives. Pity though that the N°122 Meat & Poultry knife is not part of this set. You will have to buy that separately!
