A useful 2xAA flashlight
I particularly wanted a 2 x AA tail clicky flashlight. There are not many in the marketplace at the moment, perhaps the Fenix E20 V2.0 is the one which comes to mind. This Nextorch C20 is half the price. So the question is how does it stack up. The 2 x AA format is an easy to carry format with reasonable battery life and ready availability. A tail switch is easy to find by feel. 250 lumens is a reasonable AA rating. The torch has a deep set LED and produces a bright hot-spot and secondary spill from the OP reflector. The colour tint is a cooler CW, verging on unpleasant, than is common with other recent to the market CW flashlights. There are a few things that prevent a great rating in my estimation. A low output of 50 lumens or less would be preferable to the 70 lumens. Most flashlight enthusiasts prefer initial access to low but the C20 defaults to high. Finally I am unimpressed with the plain plastic lens. That just doesn’t sit well with the quality aluminium barrel. So a useful addition to my flashlight portfolio but one which hasn’t put the twice the price Fenix E20 V2.0 to bed.
