Martindale Golok Machete

Very useful and great value

Pros: Great size and weight Good balance Traditional looks Fair performance (once sharpened) Handle is fairly comfortable Price Cons: Finishing - Lacquer bubbles and drips along the blade, tang and scales fit is shoddy with gaps and not smooth, Handle appears doesn't feel like it will last Securing bolts are very agricultural Supplied sheath is low quality with no retention aids whatsoever The gifted file chews the cutting edge up like a saw blade (OK in an emergency, but removes a lot of material and a poor long term sharpening solution). Steel chips easily Really odd choil/ricasso shape. Is it a finger rest? Overall, I score this 5/10. It's a good back up machete but would not want to rely on it.

The blade is fine, sharp and seemingly durable out of the box, the sheath is cheap but sturdy, perfect for throwing into a shed with other tools. Only issue is the handle isn’t secure and is poorly fitted, there is a gap between the end of the tang and the end of the handle which leaves a half inch pinch point when the handle shifts. I will be fitting a new handle

after having a good look over the GOLOK there was a sticker on the handle which someone had tried to unsucessfuly remove also a big notch out of the blade edge which will take a long time to sharpen out and get it reshaped its defenetly NO M.O.D. quality tool O.K. for ligth garden work even the sheath is low grade !!!!!! more to follow

First a big Thanks to all at H.H. for quality service also not forgetting our Posties who took care of my delivery. Here we go 1 No way but no way its MOD issue arrow and number is not a stock number. 2 the handle is smaller then the old issue as it should be over sized to be used with gloved hand 3. sheath is poor quality not even military grade!!! Mine has arrived with glue on tip of blade a poor finish and 2 nicks out of it better to look for a genuine issue if you can more tests will follow

It’s a great and invaluable tool once you refine it a bit. Out of the box it’s really not finished well at all but with a bit of effort it turns into a do it all tool. I have two now and quality varies ofc mainly with the grind. Some come with a rather good grind that doesn’t take much to refine and others are very uneven and take a lot of work to get to a good working order. Mine are both in rather good shape now and work amazingly.

Great sturdy multitalented work horse of a tool. The standard by which other machtes are judged by. Will last for years. The unexpected free sharpening file was a great bonus I was not expecting.

Did have to sharpen a little, other than that it's brilliant
