Leatherman Surge 18

Considered a Wave Plus but decided on the stronger and more versatile Surge. It is absolutely superb. fantastic quality. I was woried about internet comments on its size and weight BUT it is perfect. Quality is the word I give it.

I've had a Leatherman Wave for years so I know how they compare to the Swisstools . When my Surge arrived the bit exchanger barely locked and the Scissors weren't locking up every time .I returned it and exchanged it for another Surge , unfortunately Victorinox doesn't do the bit exchanger otherwise id go with them .The replacement is fine however .The 5 stars is for the usual top class customer service .Richard hsd my replacement checked and sent out in rapid time. Hienne can sometimes be a little more expensive than some dealers but the customer service is what keeps me coming back .Superb service and a serviceable Surge .

own a few Leatherman tools (Mini, Rebar, and Signal) for context! Length wise, the Surge is only slightly longer than the Signal, but when you look at how thick it is, it's a beast. Supports the usual flat, tool heads for the driver. But as an added feature, you have a T-shank adapter, giving you more adaptability regarding the file or saw. Worth noting, the scissors need to be opened fully, and you hear/feel a positive click. Otherwise, the spring will not engage. I originally thought they were defective. The scissor arm will also go rigid, when the spring engages! All in all, a fantastic large multi tool!

Firstly, the price. Cheaper than Amazon or direct from Leatherman by a mile. Excellent service as you would expect from Heinnie. A beast of a multitool, with plenty of tools aboard. Why 4 stars then? It's good, however Victorinox Swisstools are better.
