I used the 125 mm. Blank @ &12 to make a utility knife for my wife. I ground the shoulders square & shortened the tang. I stacked a piece of Maple between 2 pieces of Rosewood for the handle & used Brass from an old lock plate for the bolster & end cap. The handle was sized & shaped to fit her hand. The blank was shaving sharp when it arrived & didn't even need honing. I just polished it a little but even this wasn't Really necessasry. I set a small, brass plaque into the handle & engraved it. I also made a knife block from Maple & Rosewood scraps obtained in a big bag of 'firewood' from a local kitchen fitter. I used Teak oil to finish off this knife & a small Carbon steel paring knife I made at the same time. The block was also oiled after I carved a birthday message on it using a dremel engraver. My wife was Very happy with the result I am Very happy with the quality of the blank steel & will be buying the 105mm. Blank to make a Bushcraft knife. Comparing this blade with the other Carbon blank I find I much prefer the SS & will stick to this in future. I can't really see any advantage in all the extra effort needed to utilize the Carbon blanks which share the same dimensions as the SS & are more expensive & are more trouble to look after.
