Maybe I'm using this wrong but I don't find it puts a razor edge on any of my knives. My usual quick sharpener is a Victorinox Jewelstick diamond steel we got for our kitchen. Now maybe that just happens to be a great sharpener if I use that and test the blade, and then use the Medic, it's LESS sharp after the Medic. No matter what combination or technique I use I cannot get a really nice edge on any blade with. it. And what I wanted it for was no-brainer quick sharpener. And as such it does not work for me.
Great price and well featured tool. It is quite heavy (compared with a penknife) but is worth putting in your bag or bag. Bleed medic is appropriates naming for this tool. It has a good magnet to hold the diamond file in place but there is a bit of play when using it. I have to remember hold it still when maintaining an edge. The diamond file is fantastic and extremely effective on serrated blades. The built in angles are ok to repair an edge away from the workshop, but as noted the carbide course side is very course. I would recommend this tool
Got mine with the knife and i keep this sharpenner in my BOB, i have done my machette on to my mora and even fishing hooks. Carbide can be brutal so i use the ceramics, but good to know if I damage my blade it will do the job
Serivce for Heinnie Haynes was 10 out 10 as always, order this product on a Friday afternoon and it was in my hands by Saturday afternoon. As for the Lansky Blade Medic what a brillant piece of kit it is most have in your kit whether you use/carry as EDC or just when you go out to play. The first blade i used it on was a blade the had been given to me by grandad which he used for gutting fish and it had not seen a sharpener in years and what a fantantic edge the blade has now. Another nice little addition is the diamond rod that flicks out is magnetic and locks in to place to reduce the chance of you cutting yourself. All i can say i did my research on multi knife sharpeners and it has paid off. No idea what "ACE" is talking about in there review. Many Thanks from Durham Bushcrafters.
Just purchased my third blade medic, great piece of kit, have no idea what the review from "ace" was all about, think he must have plastic knives ! because this little tool is great for all types of knife, its well made and simple to use as well as being portable. All that's needed is common sense and a nice edge can be obtained on most knives, just use caution and grip the tool correctly and you can't go far wrong (fingers out the way obviously!)Great service again from HH.
I was bought this sharpener as a birthday gift from HH awesome delivery and service as always I have to say.In my opinion it's all you need unless you wish to shave a gnats whiskers as they say, good all round performance I use it on all my knives. I like it so much I may get a second for my kit bag, thanks again to Heinnie Hayes for there outstanding service.
This "knife medic" ripped my knives apart and shredded the blades! Threw it away. Not a good buy! Think I will stick to the old fashioned sharpening stones as get a better finish and don't wreck my knives. I personally had a bad experience using this knife medic but that doesn't mean you will. I personally would NOT recommend it to anyone and only bought it because of the good reviews on it but my experience was totally different and I won't be buying one again.
If you are after a great sharpener that requires minimum effort this is it, full metal housing and locking diamond rod means it is bomber. Sharpened some truly tragic blades in under a minute each, that carbide sharpener makes short work of any gouges in the edge and the diamond rod is great for getting every millimeter of the blade. Fast delivery as standard!
