    Kanetsune Fixed Blade 612

Posted by Philip Greenhill on 8th Sep 2022

I'd expected both ends to be round like the handle, not flat. That's the reason for 4 stars. The blade needed a bit of work on a couple of minor burrs but nothing major and it's sharp

    Used for wood carving

I use this for wood carving it was very sharp to begin, holds a edge well and sharpens well. Good price. All round a decent sharp little blade for crafts.

    Unbelievable value!

Posted by Bob Hughes on 21st Apr 2022

Thanks as always for super fast shipping and delivery. This is what it says we can expect - a working tool with a versatile blade size and shape. I bought two as a curiosity (one for my son as a fellow collector) - but likely to buy a couple more - one for the kitchen and one for the workbench. It's even pretty to look it for real, yet comfortable to hold and control. Great little knife! Recommended without hesitation....

    Kanetsune

Really good value for money knife. Great for whittling and trimming leather. Razor sharp straight out of the box. And easy to sharpen and maintain a good edge.

    kanetsune

purchased this little gem on a whim and am very glad I did, you get what you pay for and with the little kanetsune you get a simple yet effective handle and a very very sharp blade, perfect for whittling, carving, the SK5 steel takes an amazing edge and will split hair, in short for me a cracking little oddity for the display at a very reasonable price

    Unique and Cool

Posted by Chuck on 4th Aug 2021

Did I "need" this knife? No! Did I want it? Yes! Was it worth buying? Totally, yes. Let's be honest, it's a Japanese 'micro katana' of Kanetsune Seki quality. A cool kiridashi knife. Of course, it's a tool: the spine is unground (both top and bottom) and the plate between blade and handle seems to be plastic. The blade angle and chisel grind means that it has to be used differently to say, a Skandi grind bushcraft knife. It will dig in, as you'd expect, while upside down, it can be used like a plane to take off fine shavings. Cuts really great notches in wood. To me it screams wood-carving as a supplement to my other tools . I think of it as an angled hand chisel. The steel is great, blade is sharp and easy to sharpen and the Japanese writing just...cool! A bargain for the money.

    Kanetsune knife

A great little knife, very sharp pour of box and best value at a tenner. If you want a great around the house utility blade then this is a great choice.

    exceeded expectations

Posted by Kevin on 12th May 2020

I bought this as an afterthought whilst setting myself up to carve with a Mora 106 to use alongside my Nic Westerman curved blade. I didn't know what I was going to use it for but at this price it was worth the look. Over the last few months I have made several spoons by cutting the rough shape with a carving axe and finishing with the knives and I have to say I use the Kanetsune as much as the Mora. The Kanetsune is easy to sharpen, ( I use water stones 400,1000,3000,8000 grits and finish with a leather strop and fine white stropping compound from www.hewnandhone.co.uk) and will keep its edge almost as well as the laminated Mora. It is very useful to achieve a flat or convex surface and complements the Mora well. Comfortable to use and well protected in its sheath, delivery by Heinnie was rapid as usual. A delightful discovery.

    Food Prep Bargain

Posted by Hullblazer on 21st Jan 2020

I've looked at this knife several times; I like the look and idea of a Kiridashi knife for food prep. Ordered yesterday p.m., arrived this a.m. and it is exactly as described. I'm very happy and looking forward to lunch! One star dropped as the "sheath" is very loose. Not a real problem as the knife will be living in my utensil drawer
