    Terrific but flawed

Posted by Phil on 19th Apr 2024

I saw this blade in a picture of someone’s battle kit and thought it looked wicked. I bought it the same night and when it turned up I was dead impressed with the blade. The sheath is a little loose and does rattle but I have no doubt that it holds the knife very securely. Reading other reviews other people have received blades with a dodgy blade profiles, I was no different. With an hour of sharpening and re profiling I managed to get the blade looking good again and it’s by far my sharpest blade now. It sharpens very well due to the steel and I’m sure it will stand up to a bit of abuse. Overall I’d definitely recommend the knife especially if you’re looking for a knife to do some proper work. Just make sure you’re good at sharpening and if you aren’t you’ll have ample opportunity to practice.

    Gerber Strongarm

A very nice knife sturdy and a great beater. A cheaper steel but good for it's intended uses splitting wood and feathering. Feel comfortable in the hand.

Very well made knife, weighty but not heavy, great value for money. Would definitely buy a Gerber again.

Excellent example of a tactical knife. Perfect size, grub, weight, colour, sheath, and reasonable price.

    GAUNTLET TEST

Posted by Sart on 1st Jul 2020

This Gerber Strongarm is a fantastic knife. I always thought Gerba tools were cheap & nasty. Well, how wrong I am with this knife! It is superb value for the modest price. The knife is exceptionally robust (no danger of the blade snapping), hardy against rusting; very solid and secure retention system. Not forgetting, it looks stunning and feels secure in the hand. Look on YouTube for the GAUNTLET test that they did on this knife, I saw 7 different people absolutely batter the pants off this knife, including opening a 50 gallon oil drum like it was a tin of baked beans... The knife was unfazed and looking for more abuse. Heinnie Hayes, see if you can add the YouTube link to your advert. Exceptional delivery as standard.

    Great knife

Posted by Glyn on 3rd Nov 2019

Not sure why I bought this; it just took my eye. Very happy with it and the usual outstanding service from HH. No one would really consider this to be a first choice for a deer stalking knife but, as it is an all rounder, I thought I would try it on deer. I gralloched a small roe buck without any problem (blade is a bit too deep really but managed ok) then later skinned and butchered it too. I also gralloched a much larger fallow pricket (yearling buck) and for this size animal it was fine. As with all my knives, it also takes its turn in the kitchen preparing meals and making sarnies etc; no problems there. I haven't done any bushcraft type activities with it yet but I have no doubt it will perform well.

    Perfect fixed blade

Posted by Zman on 27th Jul 2018

I bought this knife a few months ago and I love it. In my eyes it's the perfect fixed blade. Great length and thickness. Feels good too. This is a solid knife and is good for outdoor tasks, especially splitting small logs for firewood. Service from Heinnie was great. Was dispatched the next day. Cant wait to get it sharpened and back in service:)
