Description

The Gerber Strongarm is an impressive bushcraft and survival knife. Using 420HC Steel with a sabre grind you get a fixed blade knife that is not only strong, but also very sharp. With the Gerber Strongarm you can see that the tang is extended beyond the handle giving you a pronounced pommel with a lanyard hole, perfect for many outdoor tasks.

The Strongarm also boasts a coyote tan glass filled nylon handle with a diamond textured rubber overmould offering grip, texture and ultimately comfort. The blade has a part-serrated edge.

Beyond the knife itself, the Gerber Strongarm is supplied with a coyote tan moulded Zytel sheath with horizontal belt loop, snap-on MOLLE strap, nylon retention strap, and nylon belt strap. The unique modular sheath system snap-together components allow the operator to mount the knife vertically on MOLLE, horizontally on a standard 4.4cm tactical belt, or in a traditional drop-leg belt mount fashion.

    Great knife

Posted by Glyn on 3rd Nov 2019

Not sure why I bought this; it just took my eye. Very happy with it and the usual outstanding service from HH. No one would really consider this to be a first choice for a deer stalking knife but, as it is an all rounder, I thought I would try it on deer. I gralloched a small roe buck without any problem (blade is a bit too deep really but managed ok) then later skinned and butchered it too. I also gralloched a much larger fallow pricket (yearling buck) and for this size animal it was fine. As with all my knives, it also takes its turn in the kitchen preparing meals and making sarnies etc; no problems there. I haven't done any bushcraft type activities with it yet but I have no doubt it will perform well.

    Perfect fixed blade

Posted by Zman on 27th Jul 2018

I bought this knife a few months ago and I love it. In my eyes it's the perfect fixed blade. Great length and thickness. Feels good too. This is a solid knife and is good for outdoor tasks, especially splitting small logs for firewood. Service from Heinnie was great. Was dispatched the next day. Cant wait to get it sharpened and back in service:)

    Gerber have come good

Posted by Nikolas Maitland on 24th Nov 2017

Just my luck... the day after I buy it, it goes down in price by nearly £20! (Might have to buy it in black) But in all honesty I wouldn't of minded paying an extra £40 for it. Gerber have done an amazing job on this knife. Abit dubious of the 420hc because it is a bottom end steel but wow... sharp, strong very good looking and not to bad to sharpen up real well. Obviously watched a lot of reviews on YouTube about it and bit the bullet to buy. You will not be disappointed with the Strongarm. I suggest everyone buy 1 if not 2 at the price it's at because it's a bargain. Knife 5* Sheath 5* Service 5* Thank you Olly for helping with a payment issue. Got my ordered processed while I called to pay over the phone and dispatched not an hour later. Will be using Heinnie as my go to site from now on.

    Superb workhorse!

Posted by Sean on 12th Sep 2016

I've had this a while now. I've used it for DIY, garden work (I even demolished a rotten garden shed - I did own the shed, I hasten to add!). I've used it as a kitchen knife and for all round camping tasks. It takes & holds a good edge. I like this over the LMF as I didn't want serrations on the blade. For the money, you can't go wrong. The multiple carry options are an added plus.

    Excellent

Posted by Darren Turner on 1st Sep 2016

I write this review having owned and used the strongarm for well over 6 months. Firstly, forget any prejudices you may have with this brand. Forget what you may think about the steel type used here too. This knife is simply a great knife. Razor sharp. Tough as old boots and excellent value for money. I could write lots of good things about this knife, instead I'll direct you to YouTube . check out the gauntlet series of reviews, says it all

    great all rounder

Posted by Steven on 10th Jun 2016

The Gerber Strongarm is simply a great knife. I've used it while camping and hiking and even used the pommel to break/remove bathroom tiles when I lost my other tools. Some people out there might be hung up on the steal but honestly...The 420HC has proven itself at least it has in my eyes. After owning and using mine for a year now I'd happily recommend it to friends and family. it's a good size and weight, lots of carry options, holds a reasonable edge and is easy to resharpen (I use a Fallkniven DC521 stone)

    Return to Form

Posted by isaac on 2nd Oct 2015

It was originally sent to the wrong address, however a 2nd knife was quickly dispatched no questions asked, fantastic service. The knife is also a great improvement on modern gerber products and the sheath is one of the best iv ever had.

    Gerber Strongarm

Posted by SteelHeadSteve on 25th Jun 2015

The Strongarm is basically an improved Prodigy, with a more versatile scabbard. But before I start, I just want to say how nice it is to get a Gerber in plain edge. I think the Gerber fan club in the USA are also very pleased. So, the handle is more uniform, a little longer, and more grippy. The scabbard is very clever, and offers all options. What I really like about the scabbard, is that you can remove the webbing rig completely, and just use the bare scabbard. All you need to complete the set up is a Malice clip. This will sort out the the MOLLE attachment for pro. users. Tactical Tailor make them in every option, Benchmade make them in black only. I am sure HH will stock them soon.
