Description

A little something for those high-tone occasions, the Gerber Affinity is a knife with class. Simple ergonomics and barrel construction create a clean and fresh look, while the pop of colour pinch plate provides a striking aesthetic breakup on the steel frame lock. The thumb stud on the Affinity is adjustable to meet the ergonomic desires of many different sized hands, while easy access to the frame lock makes operation a breeze.

    Ok when it's cheap

Posted by Mike Bygrave on 10th Nov 2025

£25 for a D2 blade and one-and-a-bit core scales is very cheap, so it's hard to complain about what is ultimately a nice looking, functional knife. The action is not great (very stiff) and the lock is even stiffer. It's pretty difficult to disengage, especially as a left-hander. The pivot has a square-head screw. The clip is in a terrible position, but I can't get one of the T6 screws out without stripping it. The blade is sharp but off-centre. So while ten minutes of fiddling and adjusting would make it much better, I can't do any of that. However, it's £25 so you're still getting decent value.

Great chunk of a knife for the money

Posted by IanW on 17th Mar 2025

Now I am the owner of a few Gerber blades now and overall a fan of the budget edc market, mainly as I either wear them out or lose them camping and hiking. For what you get it's a no brainer for me, good chunky blade, good hand feel and with the minimum of fettling is hard to beat. I don't mind a bit of titivation at this price point, I've not spent over £100 on it where I expect great quality, so for Joe Average it's a steal imho.

    Major issues for the enthusiast

Posted by Oli Pearson on 21st Jan 2025

Let's be honest, it's a framelock in a half decent steel and it costs nothing. That's where the accolades end. Awful build quality, sharp edges galore. The surface finish on the copper is horrific. The action? Non-existent. The first one I received was locking up so late the detent ball was digging a hole on the scale. My replacement locks up at 90+ percent, more like 100 on an enthusiastic flick. I only bought it as a beautification project, shipwreck patina on the copper, blade/frame stonewashed etc. Gerber apparently don't like that idea. The only screw held in with Loctite is the dumb one-sided thumbstud, everything else is epoxied. Even the baffling pivot. I achieved what I set out to do but it fought me at every turn. I cannot recommend this knife at all if you're the sort of collector who performs any kind of maintenance. It only gets two stars because I managed to drastically improve the action after the traumatic tear-down (and it's super pretty now).

Good value, well put together, stylish item and razor sharp from box. Slender blade of a useful size.

    GERBER AFFINITY FRAME-LOCK COPPER

Posted by Bob Hughes on 26th Mar 2024

The quality of build and overall finish make this knife great value even at full price - and I took advantage of the current sale price!. Brilliant value!! It's quite thin for a frame-lock, but quite hefty with the copper scale (one side)... well balanced in the hand, and really nice to hold. Mine was wicked sharp out of the box. The blade shape and black finish are stunning! I'm not a fan of pocket clips (as I prefer pouches), but that's easy to remove if you wish. It's a good firm clip, though - just 'not for me'. I ordered this just before lunch one day, and it was delivered for collection (from DPD outlet) within 26 hours - that's excellent service - as always - thanks HH.
