The Fallkniven S1 is, arguably, the worlds most functional and high performing survival knife with a slightly longer and fuller bellied blade than its little brother, the F1. It is certainly one of the best made with the best materials and at a price that, considering the spec, is a bargain! The X series certainly has the X factor!
The basis of the X-knife’s strength lies in the laminated cobalt steel in combination with the well-thought-out construction in which break zones have been eliminated. Together with the hand-shaped convex edge, the X-knife is a concept that beats everything else in the world in terms of safety, comfort and hard use.
Lam. Cos stands for Laminated Cobalt Steel. It is at least 20% stronger than a solid stainless steel. The S1X uses a steel "sandwich". The "bread" is almost corrosion free, 420J stainless with a super hard Cobalt Steel "filling.
The Fallkniven X Series S1 is supplied with a Kydex sheath with a "transport lock." Meaning the knife can be stored in a ready to go position or locked in so it can be stored in the tip up or down position.

This is my first fixed blade knife as have been using folding until now. The size is perfect for me and the handle very comfortable. Not sure how you would cope with large hands and this has been a criticism of this particular knife. Feels secure in the hand and the sheath is excellent. Like the fact you can have the locking mechanism in two settings. Easy to withdraw by pressing the lever and easy to sheath. I like the minimalist design of the knife and will suit many purposes from bushcraft to the allotment. Replacement scales are available but it seems only in black at the moment. Fast delivery and will be buying from Heinne Hayes again.
Ordered 2 of these as I though I had a bad one the first time. Unfortunately issue is consistent, even with later checked batches. Knife is let down by gaps between the thermorun scales and the tang. Very good customer service from Heinnie, not so much from Fallkniven.
What a knife, small enough for fine tasks and big enough to chip down a small tree. Really nice geometry in the blade and handle, and reassuringly weighty. The maintenance free stainless COS steel is a top material, I love fallkniven knives. Plastic sheath with a locking mechanism is a nice improvement over the regular series offerings.
Knife is excellent quality and just looks amazing, sadly the handle was to small for me..
Same steel as the Pro but built stronger with the full tang and bolt on scales, not as comfortable as the hidden tang knives but that's the trade off. I've had loads of Fallknivens and think this one is a bit of a bargain really, sheath is functional but I purchased the leather dangler sheath too and much prefer that, razor sharp out of the box with perfect fit and finish. Size wise, I have an A2 else I'd have got the A1X, the S1 is down a bit on chopping but an easier carry and better on finer stuff, great for feathersticks and battoning. Heinnie Haynes service as reliable as ever. Thanks.
