Fallkniven F1x Elmax Fixed Blade

Used it ,abused it ,stropped it back to shaving sharp. Handle scales too thin for me but if you want the scabbard to fit then live with it. Still recommend it.

Great service from HH, a great knife but I have not used it yet, will need to mod the handle in the future as it's a bit thin for me.

Outstanding knife, compact but very heavy duty and very good quality. The supplied sheath is ideal and won't need upgrading. Genuinely delighted with it.

Just received the knife and I'm simply blown away. For a production knife the fit and finish is unbelievable, I looked at it at every angle possible and I can't find a single imperfection, very impressive. HH's service brilliant as usual.

Nice weight at 5 mm thickness for a 4 inch blade,, carved and whittled with this little knife for bout 2 hours and it still shaved the hairs off my arm,, the convex grind digs in deep & also very controllable for fine shavings, the elmax steel hold an edge better than anything else i own,,, very pleased with Heinnie,s service one of the most efficient bushcraft / outdoors shop you can deal with.

Excellent service from HH as usual. Knife razor sharp out of the box (really) I 've read that a lot on reviews but this is . Scabbard a little rattely and to my mind the transport lock is the wrong way round but easily solved . Handle scales a little too thin for prolonged use for me but yet to really use it...

Managed to get one as looked like they sold fast, took out this weekend and wow, this convex scandi grind processes wood like a mad man. Even managed a little whitle around fire with it, not sure if its my one for all but come bl**dy close.

Easily my favourite knife for hikes, campfires, or wood carving. However, it came with a significant roll and a micro-chip on the edge which is unlike Falllkniven’s usual QC. After some pretty extensive stropping I’ve mostly fixed the issue and can live with the chip. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a serious knife but pay attention to the edge when you receive it.

This review is based on initial ownership out of the box visual and in-hand feel, with limited outdoor or extensive use. I mention this caveat, having owned and used many knives in S30V, S35VN, 8Cr13MoV and M390 steels (to name a few) this being my first venture into Elmax steel. Out of the box I'm totally blown away by the quality feel in-hand, visually the attention to detail in fit and finish is second to none. Blade and handle engineering at this level has exceeded my high level of expectation, for me, in my small-medium hands, the balance is precise, and although this knife is substantially built it feels much lighter than I had expected. Additionally, if this is a true representation of < BESS 100 then I’ve been missing out on a level of sharpness that I never knew existed. The grind design allows a precise and accurate placement of the blade edge at the exact point when cut commencement is critically important. It cuts with minimal or little effort, and I’ve caught myself smiling when putting this knife to use in butchery and food preparation. In my opinion, having owned and used may quality and commissioned knives from designers and artisan craftsmen I can say, without reservation, that the Fallkniven F1X Elmax is the best of the best, it’s the grail knife I’ve been seeking for decades. Hats off to the R&D guys at Fallkniven. Because of their investment in design and development I can say that my search for a stellar blade is now over, I’m at peace, and I’m a very, very, contented chap!
