Condor Heavy Duty Kukri

5 stars as I don’t want to knock this blade which from the reviews is evidently good, or Heinnie who I have been trading with for over 20 years and are just the best. But for this cost or not much more, you can get a handmade traditional Khukuri from one of the best Nepalese makers, some with so many options it’s more or less custom. Look at the likes of Kailash, Torah or Heritage Knives. Of course you won’t get it miraculously fast like from here. Heinnie should look to do a deal with one of them. Would make a great addition to the lineup.

On the good side, the sheath is excellent with a snug fit, thick welt and good level of finish. And the blade itself is a big old chunk of 1075 that will stand any kind of abuse I'm sure. On the bad side, there's way too much steel in the handle in my opinion, with the tang actually thicker than the blade and extending right into the flared sections of the butt. I see no reason for this and it makes the knife much heavier than it needs to be, and moves the balance point too far back for a kukri. The convex grind is as rough as I've ever seen, it looks like it was done with a coarse file. The handle is too thick for, me at least (medium/large size hands). And there is barely an edge on it at all. For me it's become a project knife. I'll thin the handle down, drill out a lot of metal from around the handle, and sand the primary grind smooth, drill a front lanyard hole and sharpen it. So it has potential as there's plenty of material to remove if you want to customise it. I believe they're much cheaper in the US which probably represents a fairer price.

Love the rustic feel of condor blades and after receiving this one i loved it right from opening the box, not actually tried it yet but I'm confident it will complete any reasonable task. Only quibble would be that the lanyard hole and third rivit should be swapped around but thats just my thoughts others may prefer it that way

Great blade very well constructed. The craftsmanship is obvious straight out of the box. It feels great in the hand, comfortable and secure when chopping. The sheath is also well made. My only gripe is that Condor decided to change this model from having nice logo engraved by the handle as pictured to a cheap looking black paint saying "Heavy Duty Kukri". This is only cosmetic however and this is a heavy duty tool not an ornament so I am happy. Top tier service from Heinnie as always.

It's a good tool for the price.The balance isn't as good as my Tora service.The condor is heavier but the balance is further back.The full tang could do with a few more holes to take the balance further forward,it would improve it's chopping capability.Overall though it's a good blade.1075 is perfectly suited for a heavy chopper. Mine came adequately sharp. I've reshaped the handle and thinned the bevels to improve it's cutting ability. The squared back strikes a ferro rod really well and the sheath is good quality. I've had a cold steel o1 Gurkha and prefer the Condor to it.It's not as well made as my Tora ,or as sharp,but I would gladly have this as a one knife option.

This is a very solid knife and I'm sure it wouldn't let you down. However the finish is not great. I honestly expected more. For example clearly visible glue around the handle the grind looks like it was done with concrete and a un-level finish on the spine. All these small issues can be sorted but I wouldnt expect a to pay so much for a knife that is three quarters finished.

I ordered this and am pleased to say I like it and the fast delivery the only thing I can say the handle could do with a bit of grip to it its just a bit to smooth.
