Condor Bushcraft Parang Machete 18

I've wanted this for a while and finally decided to splash out the extremely modest amount required for such a good product. Super sharp and lovely in the hand. My only qualm is the sheath; the stud to hold the handle requires far too much effort to close. The straps are just a tad too short. Otherwise, I like the sheath a lot. Can't wait to put it to use. This is a very good piece of kit , it's not quite a one tool option, but pair it with a Mora of your choice, and you've just about got all the boxes ticked , Very, Very , highly recommended .

When Condor get it right, they really get it RIGHT! Firstly about the stock thickness- Condor say this is either 5mm thick (web site) or 4.5mm (in their printed catalog). Wrong. As Heinnie say it's bang on 4mm thick but it also has a pronounced distal taper so it's not 4mm thick for long. Don't think it's flimsy though, compared to my 3mm thick CS Barong this is a tank. Now, while it isn't a sharpened pry bar it is a great chopper even without a proper edge re-profile! The handle is very well shaped and allows a choked forward flick cut or right back power cleave to be done. There is little felt shock even with the supplied rather obtuse edge. Once it's reground it will be world class; both for cutting and comfort. Saving the best for last, the sheath has been redesigned so the rivets are now on the edge side of the sheath and the blade goes in or out smooth as silk. For a machete this is VERY expensive, for what it is, a quality modern parang, it's fairly priced! (Bit annoying they are ****in America though). Then again the yanks don't get Heinnie's awesome customer service!

I ordered this last night and it arrived today, fantastic service and a fantastic machete for the money, it arrived very sharp, only needing a light strop, the sheath could be better but it's not too bad at all, loving this machete

It was pretty much nearly a year ago when I ordered this,Its a sturdy piece of kit and holds an amazing edge,the sheath doesn't seem to be a problem for me,and for the money I paid for this it has paid off countless time and a outstanding delivery next day as always,perfect service by HH

This is a wonderfully designed parang, which feels a joy in the hand when in use. Steel is not fancy, but sturdy and takes an incredible edge. This loses a star that the sheath, it's cheap and doesn't even fit the tool for which it is intended. Luckily I had another sheath which will be serviceable for it, but a shame that Condor could not get that simple thing right when everything else is spot-on? Highly recommend this for people that have large gardens, myself I have 200 large conifers to limb so will be pressed into good use. A quick recommendation would be to put some cycle in a tube onto the handle to make it bit more grippy. Great service as always from HH

Blade is tough & up to the job. No rolling or chipping on hard, green cherry wood. Not delivered shaving sharp but since it needs a resharpen every couple of hours hard use, this is not a problem. Convex grind could be a bit shallower. Handle is a disappointment. No palm swell so grip is not 100% & polyprop is slippery on a hot day. Gloves and lanyard a "must" with this biggish chopper. Sheath is adequate if a bit awkward.
