Cold Steel Recon Tanto SK-5 Fixed Blade 18

I've deliberately held off reviewing my purchase to avoid 'something new and excited owner' syndrome. I'd never considered, a Tanto, I even looked for lower price just in case I didn't like the style. I'm very pleased with my Recon and impressed at the bargain price, handling is easy and comfortable and the blade is better than I expected - it's very sharp, easy to use and seems rugged enough to stand up to serious use - I'm not going to try and break it anyway. I was wary of the angled juncture where the two edge geometries meet simply because I'm used to curved blades, but happy to say it's versatile and copes with everything I've used it for. So, my only quandary is, which Tanto to go for next?

Great fixed blade that looks the part and definately works in design. Buy it, you won't be dissapointed

It's big, it's full tang and can take some serious abuse. Watch joex on YouTube at his review of this blade and you will see what a beast this knife is. Perfect in a shtf situation or for camping, just make sure you keep the blade protected or it will rust due to the carbon steel but other than that definitely go get one, you can't beat it for the price you could say the kobun but that's a flimsy blade and it's smaller too but it depends on what you'll be using it for

I got the Leatherneck Tanto for Christmas and immediately appreciated the strength and style of the Tanto blade. I did some research and everything I saw regarding this Recon Tanto made from SK5 was positive. It arrived shaving sharp right out of the box. It's definitely going to be part of my wilderness camping/bug out kit.

This is an epic knife, shaving sharp from the box. The SRK and Recon Tanto dont show up well in pictures, you need to hold them. I have the SRK in each steel, and the one I love the most is the SK5 version. For a long time I didnt buy tantos, because I thought I didnt like them. Then I bought this one, Ive been missing out. I was expecting the Tanto to be as good as the SRK, but now Im wondering if its actually better. I use it for woodsy, buscrafty stuff, but Im not carving spoons.Im not using it for food.

If your looking at this then you have probs seen the reviews online Its a very solid very sharp warmonger of a knife with a very nice sheath and a more than decent price,Of course Hennie had it too me super quick as always and remember to buy from them or the Welsh gods will wither one of your testies when your asleep :(

This recon tanto in sk5 is very impressive. A nice weight and feels good in the hand. The Secure-Ex sheath holds the knife securely. The blade is sharp straight out of the box. Having read & seen many reviews for this knife I am very pleased with my purchase. I look forward to trying this out in the field. Recommended highly !!!!
