FOR ANYONE INTERESTED,JUST LIKE TO LET YOU KNOW THE SHEATH IVE USED WAS A CUDEMAN MT1 IN BLACK WITH JUST SLIGHT ALTERING AROUND THE HAND GUARD SO THE STUD COULD FASTEN PROPERLY [EASY ENOUGH] THE MASTER FITS LOVELY,LOOKS REALLY GOOD AND NO SCRATCHES.THIS IS A GREAT KNIFE,HAIR POPPING SHARP AND GLAD TO HAVE IT BACK. ALSO IM SITTING THERE LOOKING NOW AT MY SECURE-EX SHEATH DOING NOTHING,I REMOVED THE BELT LOOP AND FIXED PERFECTLY TO THE BACK OF MY ESEE 3 SHEATH,WHICH NOW SITS THAT LITTLE BIT LOWER AND HAS A HANDLE STRAP AS WELL,SO ALL IN ALL IT WORKED OUT WELL. BRILLIANT KNIFE ,BRILLIANT SERVICE.....

PREVIOUSLY I WROTE A CRACKING REVIEW ON THE MASTER, UNFORTUNATELY I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SHEATH SCRATCHING THE HELL OUT OF THE BLADE. IVE GOT BLADES I USE FOR WORK etc..BUT I COLLECT KNIVES AS WELL,SO I THINK THIS IS OUT OF ORDER..I THINK COLD STEEL HAS GOT QUITE AN ISSUE GOING ON HERE,I ORDERED THE MASTER IN CPM 3V AGES AGO,THEY ARE NOW ON BACK ORDER,BUT ALSO NOTICED A BIG DELAY IN OTHER BLADES MAINLY THOSE THAT COME WITH SECUREX, EVEN THIS ONE..NOW I LOVED THIS KNIFE,TO ME IT JUST FELT PERFECT,SO IVE ORDERED ANOTHER,WHICH KNOWING H>H WILL BE HERE IN THE MORNING ,ONLY I BOUGHT A LEATHER SHEATH WHICH IS HERE WAITING FOR IT..REUNITED AT LAST!!! PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS PUT ANYONE OFF BUYING ONE,AND THIS HAS NO REFLECTION ON H.H AS THE BLADES ARE WRAPPED SEPERATE, I LOVE COLD STEEL BLADES,AND YES THEY WILL GET SCRATCHED ,BUT LET ME DO THAT. MY LEATHER NECKWITH DLC HASNT BEEN OUT OF MY BEDROOM ,ONE WEEK OLD AND SCRATCHED TO DEATH[FROM AMERICA THOUGH AND DONT FANCY SENDING BACK] KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK H.H AND HAPPY KNIFE HUNTING TO EVERY ONE..

    WORTH MORE THAN 5STARS

Just received,[ordered 3:40 p.m thurs arrived 11:00 a.m friday] don't know another company capable of that..fantastic service.Well doneH.H once again. Right back to the knife, i had ordered a master hunter in CPM 3V but there on a delay at moment,so i thought id give the SAN MAI 111 a bash. Needed to try one before i eventually commit to the SAN MAI GHURKA KUKRI. This knife is absolutely gorgeous, RAZOR sharp,i thought my ZT 0100 came sharp but this....i did a quick phone book paper test and didn't have to run the knife through the paper, just run the paper along the knife...AMAZING. The knife looks and feels awesome and solid,i love the grip it feels snug in the hand. The sheath, again excellent, knife sits secure and plenty of room for adjustment. All in all this is an excellent package for the money,i know it last years so its not a lot of money and even though i love the blade ill still be purchasing the CPM 3V one cause i love the knife aswell, any way i tend to collect black ed out knives. This has certainly made me want the kukri more so id better get saving..GET ONE you won't regret it ,there are plenty of reviews out there but from what i can gather and I'm not surprised this is one of the best and most popular knives that COLD STEEL do... MANY THANX AGAIN H.H i still would love to know how you do it but no-one else can???

    CS Master Hunter

I have had a San Mai III version for a number of years. It is a great outdoor knife and despite being tough steel and holding a good edge it is easy to resharpen. I don't keep it razor sharp but sharp enough for outdoor tasks. Last week I used it to cut holes in to 2 different sized steel tins to make a wood gas stove. I pobably cut about 40 holes in all and 2 big square openings for fuel. Each hole was a simple puncture with the tip then I twisted the blade in to make a round hole. When I had finished the blade still looked unmarked. Amazing edge retention and I believe it's down to the laminate steel. I have changed the shape of the handle to make it rounder and slightly more Scandinavian in style. It was worth the cost when I bought it and when I eventually get to buy my dream cottage out in the middle of nowhere this will be one of my every day tools.

    built for work

I mulled for three week which to get, the F1 or Master Hunter San Mai, in the end I chose Master Hunter because of the larger handle, and gladly so I did, its a true working blade with a really comfortable handle and sturdy functional sheath in kydex, the knife was bought for everyday and everything use. Even my partner who is five feet tall and eight stone wet thru and diddy little hands commented on how comfortable the handle is. A real no frills strong and functional knife. And many thanks to hh next day speedy delivery.

Bought one of the last Carbon V steel US made ones of these....fantastic knife. If the latest ones are up to spec buy one....it'll do everything you ask of it and more.

    master hunter true classic!

I have been using an old carbon v master hunter since 1991. Great all-rounder. Handle is a bit to large for a small hand. A slightly larger alternative to the fallkniven f1. Well worth the money whatever steel you chose.

Excellent knife - fortunately I have one of the last of the carbon steel blades so this will be the last Cold Steel knife that I ever buy. It holds an edge very well and is used daily in my Forestry work.
