While on a research trip in Argentina, Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson had the pleasure of using a solid steel hunting knife by French knife-maker Michel Achez.
He was incredibly impressed by Monsieur Achez's knife, which was both simple in design and astonishingly functional. Inspired by Michel's work (and with his blessing) Lynn began exploring how to bring this classic hunter to a larger audience.
Cold Steel's Drop Forged Hunter Black is expertly heat treated and drop forged from 52100 High Carbon steel with a Rockwell Hardness of 58-59 for superior toughness. It's continuously curved, super-wide blade is both sharp and strong, designed to put in great work in even the most demanding conditions.
With no handle to break or no superfluous parts to rot, crack or get damaged in the field, the Drop Forged Hunter is a no-nonsense hard working outdoor / hunting knife and survival tool.
Its ergonomic handle, with its integral finger guard deep comfortable trough and lanyard hole offers a very secure and comfortable grip even when wearing thick, heavy workman's gloves.
The Drop Forged Hunter is sure to be appreciated and valued by real hunters who will marvel as its performance and value for money.

great product, my second from the drop forged series, razor sharp, strong and sturdy, ready to go but to get the most out of it some kind of handle mod is recommended. usual service from heinnie haynes, order placed at 15.30, arrived 09.30 the next morning. amazing.
A brilliant concept poorly executed, while I have no complaints about the quality of the steel and the edge retention of the blade, the finish of the knife is very poor, not black but an off blue-black, and soft, I scratched the blade finish opening a cardboard parcel. Maybe you would be best to wait until Cold Steel, releases a stainless billet version. Not my best Cold Steel Purchase.
its sharp as hell comfy to hold and you would have to be very clever or very stupid to break it. the only downside is the theath which isnt the best. but this doesnt matter cause i plan to mod it. i want to put inner tube/shrink wrap on the handle so i can use it in the cold and a better sheath. would definitly reccommend.
