The Boker Plus Cataclyst is a handsome streamlined knife whose design meant that the blade could only engage with the use of a "flipper"...until now! Here at Heinnie Haynes® we decided that this beautifully designed, slimline, modern folder deserved the Heinnie® treatment and so was born the Catalyst Heinnie® Edition, without a "flipper", non-locking, sub three inch blade and UK legal carry.

The Heinnie® Edition has got rid of the "flipper" thus improving the smooth lines and instead relies on the jimping on the back of the blade to push the blade open with the thumb utilising the "Tilt Opening System." Impress your mates and challenge them with the question, "How do you open this then?" when there is no discernable means of blade engagement!

The sturdy blade of satin-finished 440C has a flat grind and a groove on both sides. The straight-lined design is supplied with a textured handle scale made of Heinnie® red G10, which is milled three-dimensionally and has a weight-reducing recess on the inside.

Boker Plus Cataclyst Heinnie® Edition Folding Knife

not the easiest to open, however with its slim format it lies easily at the bottom of cargo pant pocket so easy to keep at hand.

    Boker plus Heinnie edition

This is a nice knife for the price, however I have one gripe, the detent is too gentle, it has managed to slightly open in my pocket twice, and with tip up carry, this is not fun! Also, in use, it closes with the slightest bump of the blade.

Boker Cataclyst - looks nice but not that great

Posted by Ed C on 26th May 2023

Lovely looking knife and a unique way of opening it, but I have been using it a while now and while I have got the hang of opening it, the way it’s held open (on my knife) is quite weak and cause the knife to close to easily which makes me not feel confident using it. I bought this to replace my lost tech tool 1 and really I should have just bought another one of those. I doubt I will use this much at all. I tried to tighten the bolt that holds it together with the supplied hex key but the bolt head is very soft and the hex cut into it is very small so it immediately stripped the head so I can’t tighten it, or loosen it, and doubt I can return it now I have damaged it slightly. Nice looking knife, great blade but the blade lock is not confidence inspiring enough for daily use - even on light tasks - compared to other UK legal slip joint knives I have (by boker) Bit disappointed tbh, £40 could be better spent elsewhere.

    BOKER PLUS CATACLYST HEINNIE® EDITION

A lovely little folder. The opening and closing feature is interesting, and very safe. The blade is really sharp straight out of the box. Another winner from Boker!

    Good knife.

Posted by Geraint on 2nd Jul 2022

I love this knife!! Looks great and the action is amazing. Only one problem for me and it’s a big one. I like to maintain all my knives, so that means taking them apart, cleaning, oiling etc. tried to take this one apart and rounded three screws. I know what I’m doing when maintaining my knives. It just seems like the heard wear used is poor quality.. maybe it was just mine, but I’m pretty disappointed! That’s the reason for the star rating!
