The Boker Plus Cataclyst is a handsome streamlined knife whose design meant that the blade could only engage with the use of a "flipper"...until now! Here at Heinnie Haynes® we decided that this beautifully designed, slimline, modern folder deserved the Heinnie® treatment and so was born the Catalyst Heinnie® Edition, without a "flipper", non-locking, sub three inch blade and UK legal carry.

The Heinnie® Edition has got rid of the "flipper" thus improving the smooth lines and instead relies on the jimping on the back of the blade to push the blade open with the thumb utilising the "Tilt Opening System." Impress your mates and challenge them with the question, "How do you open this then?" when there is no discernable means of blade engagement!

The sturdy blade of satin-finished 440C has a flat grind and a groove on both sides. The straight-lined design is supplied with a textured handle scale made of Heinnie® red G10, which is milled three-dimensionally and has a weight-reducing recess on the inside.

    Booker Plus Catalyst Heinrich edition

Posted by Mike on 16th May 2022

Not as easy to open as I thought, you need to use pressure on both sides to open enough to grip the blade by the finger slot or push the blade out with a thumb . Otherwise well made with zero play and blade opens freely, so reluctant to slacken it off to see if it fixes the issue. Will try as an /EDC for a bit and it may free up a but with use.

    Not that good

Posted by Otari Svanidze on 16th May 2022

Difficult to open but I guess that would get better after some practice. Feels unsecure, even for non-locking knife. What's the deal with "other" side? Is it a non-locking version of an existing locking knife? Nice blade, like the shape and sharpness out of box. There are more cons than pros I'm afraid.

    Boker Plus Cataclyst Heinnie® Edition

Posted by Phil Greenhill on 14th May 2022

Having read the previous reviews I have to agree that it seems you either get one that'll open as presented in the video or one that won't and needs both hands to open, I have the second, hence only 4 stars for a really nice knife otherwise. A great pity

    Solid knife

Posted by Lennie on 12th May 2022

Very stout knife, its nearly 4 mil thick. Easy to open with finger and thumb twist, razor sharp and super strong. Would be better with a bigger choil to wrap finger in, but I can see why it is like this as its very flat and slip in pocket easily. Nice idea Mr Heinnie or Haynes (sorry)

    Biker Plus Cataclyst

Great feel in the hand, while not a locking blade, the system could be a little more secure, very sharp..

Love it but some will hate it

Posted by Peta on 12th May 2022

I think its a lovely knife and after a parcatise have my own f*ick way of opening it and its so sleek and smooth. Nice low profile as nothing sticking out, A bit unusual but get used to and you will realise it makes sense I did

    Good little Knife

Posted by Mildred on 10th May 2022

Bought this knife as I needed to add it to my growing collection. A bit difficult to open at first but once you have played with it a little it opens with ease.

    Meh

Posted by Michael Walker on 7th May 2022

the opening mech is poor, I can't get my open from the spine as the spring holding the blade is too strong but also really weak for keeping the blade open its a cumbersome job to open from the front, pretty much a two handed job or working cack handed. I'm guessing some springs are stronger than others leading to a poor opening experience, really disappointing.
