Description
We love to dig in the dirt and any tool that makes the experience more fun is a tool we want in our bag. After spending countless years testing all different types of tools from locations around the world, the Barebones founder discovered a tool called the Hori Hori. Roughly translated from Japanese, Hori Hori means Dig Dig.
The Barebones Hori Hori, based on a Japanese garden knife was designed to be the ultimate multi tool in your garden and Barebones' unique take on this tool should feel right at home in any garden setting. A quality walnut handle and tempered steel blade mean this tool is built to last. Digging, trenching, planting, cutting, and even popping the top off your choice of refreshing beverage, we think you'll find the Barebones Hori Hori to be your favourite go-to bushcraft tool.
A sheath is not supplied, but is available separately. See "Related Products", below.
I first saw this type of gardening tool in my magazine. I spent quite some time trawling the net to find one I liked. This make is by far the best for design and looks. Really pleased with it. Hasn’t been used yet as only recently purchased. Looking forward to many allotment hours with it. Thank you Heinnie.

Great tool

This is a genuinely well built tool. Great around the garden but equally useful in the outdoors to dig fire pits, latrines etc.
Fits into a PLCE bayonet sheath that can be found for a few quid online.

Barebones hori hori classic

Just wanted to warn potential buyers, the plain edge is not sharp, (needs serious work with a grinder), the tip is very blunt, (again, major grinding needed),, if you're thinking that's a bottle opener, forget it, !.. The handle scales are poorly fitted, (removed, sanded flat, and epoxied back on,).. After all this work, (nearly a full day), it's now superb, and should last for ages,, the steel seems pretty good, 3Cr13 ? ).. Also, I gave the handle a few coats of shellac.. I just wanted to give people a heads up, that this is poor, out of box, but can be made into a superb garden tool,,, also, I got the sheath, and that needs some careful work with the heat gun, re-shaping it, so it fits,, I don't wish to be negative about this knife,, as it's great, now,,, caveat emptor, as they say,,,,,

Good strong business like tool. Looking forward to using it; it'll last forever. Note, no sheath. I understand that it fits a PLCE bayonet scabbard.

Using this in the garden my wife was so impressed that she insisted we bought another for our daughter. It really looks the business and has multiple uses.

Blunt instrument

Buyers should be aware that not only is the point rounded, it is also unsharpened. Any gardener will tell you the importance of keeping your spade reasonably sharp (obviously you are never going to shave with it) . In the case of this Hori Hori the point is so blunt as to make it quite hard to push through heavy soil or use for precision work. Literally all my other garden tools are sharper - even regular trowels. Other than that, it looks the part and seems extremely sturdy.
